Veronica wasn't happy with his attempt to describe the event with his sister being ill. I think she wanted more description of his emotions at that time, not just "I was very upset and cried a lot". Fair enough but she wasn't able to articulate that and Eliot didn't understand what she wanted. And then she got frustrated with him not giving her what she wanted and kept asking him, but then shut him down when he tried to speak.
