I think Lauren is very fucked up. She came from a real mess of a family as I recall and her sister was unhinged. I think she is only capable of transactional relationships and has formed a hard, mean shell around herself to defend against whatever grimness she has survived.

I think she is terrified of being seen as rough and bogan, hence her throwing out those accusations at other women in the ixperiment, because she probably comes from a rough and bogan background.

I suspect that Clint, who seems polite and gentle probably isn't a pushover and won't like that level of brutality in his life.

I disagree with this part of your post.
I don't think that is the reason, she is definitely middle class, places herself well above bogan types, it is an easy attack judging a working class woman on her life, I think it is standard for mean MC women to attack class markers.

Her family looked like a car crash to me and I think people throw out accusations that are really about their own fears, not actually about the other people at all. But it is MAFS and we only get edited tiny snapshots, so I could be 100% wrong! 😁

Lauren is vile. I think people have just forgotten because Eliot was so odious.
In the interview stages, Lauren was calling men pussies as well as being very snide and snooty about other girls. She really thinks she is superior - and is actually a bit of a man-hater.
This submissive wife doing all the serving etc etc is just a strategy to control the men- to try and make the men think they are not manly enough, to keep them changing themselves trying to please her, making them insecure, keeping them on their toes- and her in the driving seat. It's nothing but a strategy of manipulation.
The problem is, she's not a prize worth having.

Lauren is an odd one, because she's all about having an 'Alpha male' who will put her in her place and protect her, and who she can 'serve', whilst wearing her best pinny.
But she also wants to crush it in the business world and be an independent woman about town.
It's unusual and not that realistic to have both.

I suspect Eliot and Veronica (?) were brought back to add some drama into the show now its coming to the end as a lot of the loved up couples left and its getting boring. Even the crazies are finding their mojo now it seems, which is a massive surprise!

I think Clint, like anyone, would be wary of someone after him for his money!

Personally I think Awhina is also there for publicity and post MAFS celebrity. I can’t really blame her, she’s lovely looking and in a poorly paid job. Though leaving her son to engage in all this is questionable

@Outofthepan surely all the contestants are there for the publicity and post MAFS deals? I can understand that this wouldn't necessarily have been the case for the first ever show, but I find it hard to believe that anyone is there now, without an eye to the post show benefits. Or am I being too cynical?

Poor Clint, i'd like to hop that he isn't stupid but he's obviously given away the fact that he is wealthy. Should have kept that quiet to see if she liked him for him first

That’s what I think too. The way Jaquie ad her OH carry on, I can’t believe it’s real. The constant crying’ with no tears, she seems unhinged and he’s as bad.

I would say the majority of them go on for self publicity and if they find love then that’s a bonus. There are the odd ones who seem genuine but the rest, I don’t believe it

I think Clint and Veronica have really been short-changed in all this. That's not so much a comment on Eliot's/Lauren's personalities (although that too, tbh, especially Eliot's 😅) as the fact that they've each been landed with so much baggage that the 'originals' haven't had to contend with. It's never going to be straightforward and I can't see these marriages standing a chance tbh. (I thought maybe Lauren and Clint until Lauren started with the alpha male crap and thinking doing the laundry wasn't masculine, it's not MAFS she needs, it's a teleporter back to 1952 ffs🙄) Not fair on either Veronica or Clint imho.

I know opinions are mixed on Clint, but so far I'm pretty much liking them both (not seen all of Monday's CC yet though, so may have missed something), definitely would have liked to see Veronica get a fair crack of the whip, I like her.

This is what I'm not getting about her as well. The combination is virtually unheard of, certainly in my life experience anyway. She's really going to struggle to find her counterpart, especially as she seems unwilling to compromise.
