For those who have binged it, what did you think? I thought it was very watchable. Not 6 episodes worth though. I didn’t like the end. There was no real end unless is a build up to a second season? I did watch it in a rush before the school run this morning so please say if it’s worth a second watch of the final episode.

I enjoyed it but didn’t really understand it by the end. Was her lover good or bad?

I’ve just binged it and think it was ok it but it’s no line of duty and could have been so much better . I didn’t warm to any of the characters . To think a senior detective can just leave the job and attend to her disabled father is not believable . The story was very muddled , a British intelligence officer coming out of nowhere to be the perpetrator?? The 3 lead female detectives all working against each other trying harder to catch each other out than follow the clues and solve the crime . They should have worked together . The ending was not good either . Full of promise but disappointing.

I gave up when she took the kid home with her.

Love Siobhan Finneran, but she’s too old for the role. At 60 you’re looking to retire from the police, if you haven’t already, not take over from your (younger) boss.

And it was Cop Show Bingo.

He hadn't used her to find out any info so that was just all sweet & lovely!

i think the info was coming from Kelman who, like Brandice was just following orders from "John Gibson" who had "gone rogue".

Re the paedophile, it also meant she was able to get help from the copper who wanted him protected, to protect Amy and her aunt and uncle as I think they were different areas

I binged it all, would give it a 6.5/10

Good premise but thought it got a bit too convoluted by the end. I find Catherine Tyldesley very wooden but Siobhan Finneran was great

Catherine Tyldesley was barely in it to be wooden! Blink and you would have missed her.
I binge watched over two nights and really enjoyed it. Quite enjoying the female detective lead tv series at moment.

I enjoyed it, binged the final three episodes. But, lots of the acting was a bit ropey. There was zero chemistry between SF and Brandice. The sex scenes were cringy. Lots of overacting from Katherine Kelly, such a sour face most of the time. I hope there isn’t a second series.

Ive been trying to think who should have played the main character…. Maybe Suranne Jones.

PassingStranger · 27/03/2025 23:10

Far too complicated, too many characters, difficult to follow
Things that drag on are usually disappointing.

TheNightingalesStarling · 31/03/2025 21:35

So did she agree to the cover up or not?

I think so yes as she said something to her daughter about a new start.

Iirc!

Don't know, don't care. Turned out to be a right load of shite!

IwantToRetire · 04/04/2025 19:00

I've only just watched this and to begin with was thinking it was just another forumula 9pm crime drama.

But got more into it, although overall it was implausible.

eg once "Liz" had to step in as the head of the team she wouldn't have been able to be out of the office doing her sort of lone ranger detecting.

Thought the story line was interesting, and a bit worrying that our so called justice system can so easily be undermined by politics.

In the end all of them were bending the rules, or being made to bend the rules.

But as PP have said, I think they were saying the romance was real, which is why in the grave yard her colleague told her that they had worked out that Brandice hadn't been faking interest in her to get information. And yes the divorce papers.

Do think that these tv dramas make it clear that detectives shouldn't have a family. It never works out because they cant commit to be there when needed.
