I have just watched the whole series. I'm blown away, and in bits. Anyone else seen this yet? The whole series has just been released on Channel 4 OD. I'm not sure I can ever watch this again, just so beautifully done but such a painful subject.

Haven't watched series 3 yet but loved the first 2, Jack coming out to his mum was one of the best and most emotional things I've ever seen on tv. Sounds like I need to brace myself for the new series!

I finished Series 3 last night. The final episode absolutely blew me away. I don't know what I was expecting but it was a masterpiece. I couldn't even cry. I want to watch it all again already. Such a wonderful love letter to the importance of friendship, especially to young men. It got the balance between laughter and tears absolutely spot on - just devastatingly good.

Just part way through watching the last episode and I’m crying my eyes out.
It’s exactly what I was thinking. It’s a love letter to Danny 😢

Crazykefir · 24/02/2025 14:16

Best tele I've watched in a long time. I hope to see more writing by Jack.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 24/02/2025 15:58

It’ was wasn’t it!
it’s still really affecting me. And the alternate ending for Danny was gorgeous.

I couldn’t go to bed for hours afterwards!

The weird thing is how ashamed I felt by the end for having dismissed Jules, through three series, as just an annoying nonentity. She’s written into my brain now, and I’ll be wiser in future …

Although, on the other hand, I’m very well aware that support for undergraduates with mental health problems can be seriously lacking in England - so it was a bit of a fairy tale.

sausageupanalley · 25/02/2025 08:23

I really enjoyed the show and re-watched series 1 and 2 again before starting series 3 as I am so forgetful these days. I am probably being really thick but is all the stuff with Jules basically an alternative to the actual ending that is hinted at quite near the start of the last episode? (Don't want to give away any spoilers).

MayIDestroyYou · 25/02/2025 08:29

Yes.

spiderlight · 25/02/2025 08:54

Yes - it's what Jack wanted to give Danny.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 25/02/2025 14:39

Once I realised that it made me cry all over again. I’m still not over it.

sausageupanalley · 25/02/2025 17:53

I think I need to watch it all again knowing that now so can view it with a different perspective. It's very cleverly done, great show.

Londongreywindows · 25/02/2025 17:56

Heartbreaking and life affirming in equal measure. Genius writing and the acting was amazing.

Londongreywindows · 25/02/2025 18:01

One, of the many bits, that got me sobbing, was when Nanny Bingo was with her son when he died. Seeing her cuddling up to him in the hospital bed destroyed me.

Tiny spoiler...

Also loved the bit where Tariq threw Shannon's mum out of the party in S3.

pastahat · 01/03/2025 00:27

Really loved this and beautifully done. Agree totally that Katy Wix and John Pointing were brilliant especially in that final episode.
Also loved the actress who played Shannon - such a good comic actress but moments of sadness including the scenes with her Mum.
As an aside, who was the actress playing her Mum? It’s really annoying me and can’t find any answers on Google!

Thank you so much- mystery solved!

I just watched all three seasons over the weekend, loved it so much. Cried over it. Sobbed through the last episode and then had another cry later on in the evening. Just beautiful

Yamyamabroad · 10/03/2025 15:08

Goodness me, what a brilliant ending. I wasn't a fan of some of the more crude comedy but so glad I stuck with it though I cried through both of the last 2 episodes. I'll recommend it to friends but not quite sure how to describe it.
