Yah it’s back.

Unforgotten

This will be tv paced , as mine always are

as it will be on ITVX as a box set so sure there will be binge threads

No spoilers please 😘

Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar return for another instalment of the hit ITV crime drama.

The sixth season is set to premiere on ITV1 (and STV in Scotland) on Sunday 9th February at 9pm, with all episodes of the season available to stream on ITVX as a boxset on the same day.

The second episode will then air on Monday 10th February at 9pm, also on ITV1 and STV.

And then back the following sun /mon eve

The new run takes on a brand new case, with Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar (www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/unforgotten-cast-itv/) reprising their leading roles as DCI Jessica James and DI Sunny Khan, respectively.

While their initial season working together didn't get off to the smoothest of starts, we're sure things will be a little more plain-sailing for Jessie and Sunny as they embark on yet another grisly investigation.

Like previous seasons of the hit ITV drama, we'll once again be thrown into another complicated case that offers up multiple individuals that seemingly don't have a connection but are somehow caught up in the case at hand.

According to the synopsis: "The series begins when suspected human remains are uncovered on Whitney Marsh – Jess and Sunny are immediately called to the scene, abandoning their evening plans to Jess’s husband’s chagrin.

Dr Balcombe’s analysis reveals that the remains are relatively recent and suggest a grim conclusion: the body was placed there already dismembered.

"With this insight, Jess and Sunny intensify their search certain that other body parts may not be far away."

The guest cast for the series includes MyAnna Buring (The Witcher), Elham Elas (Shantaram), Victoria Hamilton (COBRA) and newcomer Max Fairley, as well as Jan Francis (Just Good Friends) and Damien Molony (Brassic (www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/brassic-sky-cast/)).

Andrew Lancel (Bolan’s Shoes) is also reprising his role as Jess’s husband Steve, while Kate Robbins (The Couple Next Door (www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/the-couple-next-door-season-2-cast-confirmed-newsupdate/)) returns as Jessie's mother Kate.

Teasing what's to come with their characters, the season 6 synopsis reveals: "As the investigation unfolds, viewers are introduced to a diverse new cast of characters: Melinda Ricci (MyAnna Buring), an outspoken television commentator based in Ireland; Martin 'Marty' Baines (Max Fairley), an autistic man living with his mother Dot in Deal, Kent; Asif Syed (Elham Elas), an Afghan training for his UK citizenship test; and Juliet Cooper (Victoria Hamilton), a history lecturer and faculty head at a London university.

"While these characters live seemingly separate lives, they are intricately connected by their pasts.

It’s up to Jess, Sunny, and their dedicated team to uncover these hidden links and ultimately expose the truth behind the cold case murder."

Does anyone else find the Jess/husband storyline annoying and distracting? I suppose they are freeing her up as a possible love interest for Sunny. I just wish they did it more briefly because I find it hard to care about her unless she is at her desk solving stuff.

That's always been the way with Unforgotten, though. Nicola Walker's character always had her personal life as part of the storyline as has Sunny. The other police officers don't and , up til now, nor did the pathologist! There's probably less about Jessie, to be honest, than there was about NW.

I fell asleep last night and then DH kept asking me questions and I had to pretend I knew the answers. Missed the whole Asif bit...

I feel like I am potentially imagining that Juliet and Taylor lived somewhere else in the first episode and they now seem to be above the pub? I thought they were in fancy far-too-expensive house in episode one.

I like Unforgotten but the whole conversation between Juliet and the student was really clunky.

SydneyCarton · 24/02/2025 07:24

Could Taylor be involved in some way? I think Gerry died from a stab wound to the thigh which wouldn’t necessarily have taken a lot of force or strength to inflict. She could have heard her parents arguing (because Juliet found out about the affair with Mel and/or the baby), Gerry was beating Juliet and Taylor grabbed a knife to defend her mum. Juliet gets rid of the body and covers up to protect Taylor, who’s obviously still traumatised and angry.

Piggywaspushed · 24/02/2025 07:26

That does make sense but the conversations we have seen between Taylor and Juliet don't point that way so would be annoying red herrings, if so.

Piggywaspushed · 24/02/2025 07:31

How much do we actually know about Emmett Scanlan's character? Is Scanlan really just dialling it in or will his part develop beyond ' cuckolded man who has lost use of legs in tragic accident'?

imfae · 24/02/2025 07:42

Oh was so tempted to watch the last episode last night . But you lot kept me on the straight and narrow !

Legally the detective wouldn't be able to change the locks , which she would know . But this was her mum saying this , not her .

We have Melinda and Asif locked up - does this rule them out if the person at the flat door at the end is the one who did it/ involved ?

We still have Juliet . I think I would discount her as maybe too obvious as the wife . But she did ask her daughter to lie .

I did think perhaps the daughter killed the father . But she would have been really young at the time . Could have been when her dad was hitting her mother she intervened . We know through school she can be violent and she also would have poss witnessed / heard domestic violence .This would tie in with her mum asking her to lie and also her mum lying about the DV against her .

Will Juliet then flee with her daughter as her life is unravelling anyway ?

We also still have Marty and his mum . Not sure of Marty , don't think he killed him but could have seen / witnessed something . But then did he try and kill his mum & why ?

We also have the refugee family left that Asif was helping and the criminal gang . Not sure either are likely .
Anyone else I have left out ?

imfae · 24/02/2025 07:45

@SydneyCarton see we had the same thoughts . I was too slow typing up - so didn't see yours first .

imfae · 24/02/2025 07:55

If it was the daughter . Juliet would struggle to dispose of the body on her own , so did someone else help her ?

Or did she cut up his body in their flat . If so there would surely be some forensic evidence of this , even if years later . Was that the significance of Marty seeking out the pub where he had worked , which was turned into flats .

SydneyCarton · 24/02/2025 08:15

I’m also guessing that the six months Mel spent in the convent in Ireland was her going away to have the baby, who has presumably been adopted there.

Perseimmion · 24/02/2025 08:59

I’ve really enjoyed this series. I’m properly looking forward to finding out who killed Gerry!

I like the back stories, it makes it all seem real.

duc748 · 24/02/2025 09:36

I'm enjoying it a lot too. It's a class above the average run-of-the-mill series. One thing we can say for sure, I think, is that Juliet was not surprised about the body-parts being found in the Marshes. And Taylor is clearly involved.

PrincessScarlett · 24/02/2025 09:37

Good call about Taylor. I'm starting to think it could be Taylor as the school keep expelling her for being violent. Maybe it was self defence or an accident. Marty was involved and helped as Taylor has previously said she liked Marty/made him squash when he broke into their house.

However, there is still this mysterious refugee family that Asif was involved with who have been mentioned since the start but not found yet. If they keep being mentioned I wonder if there is a reason for that or it's just a red herring 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't know how they are going to tie it all up in an hour.

Bitteralmond · 24/02/2025 10:20

I wondered about Taylor too, but she would have been really young and from the conversation where she says 'I heard everything', it would seem her mother didn't know she heard their last fight. Maybe Taylor and Marty worked together, as they apparently had a conversation alone where Taylor claimed to have convinced Marty not to hurt her dad.

duc748 · 24/02/2025 10:30

Taylor's account of her parents ("Dad got angry; you got rage!") didn't really tally too well with 'Gerry the wife-beater'.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 12:55

@Piggywaspushed I said it was hin in e1 Aa he am away plays a baddie 😂😂

@imfae well done for resisting

@SydneyCarton mel had a baby ? I missed that

I don’t think it’s Taylor as would have been so young then and if was her maybe she’s blanked it out

@Blondeshavemorefun The priest told Sunny that Mel had spoken about having a long-term relationship with a married man and that she'd had a child with him.

Piggywaspushed · 24/02/2025 13:32

Taylor or Juliet by themselves are unlikely to have been able to dismember a hulking male body and then move it.

I feel T would be even more obviously traumatised if she had done this or witnessed it. But that may be a plot hole.

I’ve literally just rewatched that bit

Similar thing happened in a New Tricks storyline. The one where Sandra Pullman finally meets her half brother.

ChonkyRabbit · 24/02/2025 15:43

Taylor clearly mistrusts and suspects her mum so it wouldn't make sense for her to be the killer.

There's always a twist in the final episode, something unexpected about the killer. I'm wondering if Person A killed Gerry but Person B somehow thought they had killed him and Person B dismembered and dumped him despite being innocent.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 15:50

That sounds complicated @ChonkyRabbit

OP posts:
ChonkyRabbit · 24/02/2025 17:05

Whatever happened is definitely complicated. The family Gerry is having physical arguments with scarpers, then Asif attacks him but Martin is seen fleeing the scene, meanwhile loan sharks are pressing him for money, then he's stabbed in the thigh, chopped up, and buried.

ChonkyRabbit · 24/02/2025 17:12

Thinking about it, I reckon the Denari (?) family is going to have the key to the missing piece of the puzzle. It seems they're finally going to be questioned on the last episode.
