I'm not as avid a Vera fan as I think a lot of you might be, but I dipped in and out in previous series. Now, having just watched these two, I have some big questions:
A. Is it meant to be a massive case study on passive aggressive team dynamics, micro behaviours and how not to manage someone's stress related sick absence?
Examples: "I'll look up the ANPR on that Ma'am." "Yeah, so you should pet, why haven't you already?"
The eye rolling pathologist, why was she never pulled up on being such a sullen teenager. The "bribes" of a pack of coke cans or biscuits, for doing her job on a murder case with multiple crime scenes.
Telling Joe to "see someone" and then when he's evidently taken a bit of time off, telling him in front of others that his head wasn't in the game, "I'll get mark to do that". Etc.
It all looks like a workplace training package to me! And I've done a lot of those. Pet.
B. Why did a cold case (the guy that was released) get a DCI immediately put on his case review, at the same time as they were inviting her to promote to Superintendent? Multiple cold case TV series have made it quite clear that only alcoholic hasbeens are put on those things, in a windowless office without a team.
