I’ve just started it so I’m about half an hour behind.

Lisad1975 · 16/11/2024 21:45

Yep should be interesting

EachandEveryone · 16/11/2024 21:49

NoWordForFluffy · 16/11/2024 21:52

I'm watching. It's fascinating!

I’ve just binged all three episodes. Absolutely fascinating.

I think Robbie has had a LOT of therapy and is very insightful. The way he spoke about Sean from 5ive and his message when Liam died, shows he’s a genuinely nice man

did you read his post on insta about his response to Nigel?

Finally finished this today. I enjoyed it! Robbie definitely came across well. I always thought he was arrogant but agree he's had a lot of therapy to get to where he is now. Feels like a lot of them were traumatised by their experience. Mad that E17 made no money!

Really shows how badly they were treated back then. Considering how they were just young boys, there were no safeguards in place. I have no idea if things are any better with newer groups.

Not sure louis Walsh or Simon cowell came across well at all.

This is Boybands Forever, right? It was fascinating. Very sad how many of them were messed up by the pressures of fame. I'm glad they all seem to be doing better now.

I can't imagine Five singing Hit Me Baby One More Time! That's mad.

I don't know if any of you ever listen to Nicky from Westlife's podcast, but its really intresting. This week he interviewed Tony from E17 and they talked a lot about the lack of support and aftercare in the music industry.

He was saying how in Football, as soon as you're signed (even as a kid) they immediately make you to take out a pension from your very first paycheck to check that your future finances are safeguarded, and they were saying the music industry should do the same. They questionned whether support should come from the management side or the record company, and how it's a real mind-fuck to know that you're esesntially "retired" by the age of 23-25.

He also interviewed Brian McFadden (that was interesting to hear why he left westlife), Jo from S Club and Joey from nSync. I'd highly recommend it, it's a really good listen.
