Has anyone seen this? I don't know whether to feel sorry for the police officer or wonder how the fuck he could kill someone innocent. He seems like a lovely man though.

Is this Jean Charles de Mendes? That was an awful police killing.

Yes that's the one.

Mixed feelings about the documentary. I don't think the officer who pulled the trigger can be solely to blame as it was a major failing by the met police and various stages. Including the cover up by the met police that Jean Charles was acting suspiciously when he wasn't. I thought the officer who shot did seem like a good guy, however I did think the some of the descriptions of the shooting and the bone fragments and tissue etc were of poor taste, particularly when the poor man was innocent and has a family who will likely see the documentary. Just don't think it was very sympathetic towards the family tbh. Really really sad though.

The police officer came across as a good guy, who was following orders from those above him, at a time when london was on high alert.

I felt extremely sorry for him. He has to live with that for the rest of his life

Those above him should be ashamed.

The jury at the inquest didn’t believe his story that he’d shouted ‘armed police’ or that Jean Charles had walked towards him, did they? I can’t have any sympathy with him if he’d lied about that.

It’s terrible that the police didn’t correct the rumours about Jean Charles jumping the turnstile and running from the police. I wouldn’t have wanted to be an armed police officer in that situation, but my sympathies when watching the documentary were only with the family.
