So sadly we lost Paul, the air has been chilly.
Bernie had a rave, and Summer is comforting Billy.
Todd is a dude, and David's quite a lark.
It'll be Christmas by the next thread, and really quite dark.

Cassie is a sly one, she's taking Ken in.
I wish the naughty scouser would get in the bin.
Gail and Audrey don't have much going on at the mo.
And Stu and Yasmeen are always on the go.

Poor Bethany was slim but she got liposuction.
The fallout from the procedure has caused quite a ruction.
She owes so many thousands, you just wouldn't believe.
The clinic have her passport so she simply can't leave.

Damon's creeped out of the woodwork for a minute.
It's none of his business but he's poked his nose in it.
Offering Sarah dodgy cash he's got hidden away.
Sarah may have to take it. It may be the only way.

The pub is fairly quiet, and not much going on there
Daisy, Jenny, and Glenda all have fab hair!
Daniel is fussing around Bethany all the time
And people blame him for Bethany, like he's committed a crime.

Fizz is very pregnant, but may not keep the baby.
Tyrone really wants to, and says 'can we, maybe?'
Hope and Ruby fancy a new sister or brother.
But we know who'll be looking after it, Yep, the mother!

Carla and Lisa are vibing quite nice.
You can see their reactions when they look in each others eyes.
Mason's trying to go straight, but is he for real?
Or will he go back to his old ways, and bully and steal?

Kit has been fairly quiet, and the quads have been too!
What's the point of the quads, what do they even do?
Can't think of much else going on right now.
And can't get this last bit to rhyme. Grin

What did Ronnie and Eddie have to do with Joel being dead in a pond?

Confused!

They've obviously killed him because of how he's treated DeeDee.

PayYourselfFirst · 14/10/2024 21:34

I feel like I've missed 3 episodes
None of it makes sense

They've obviously killed him because of how he's treated DeeDee.

They threatened him in the precinct recently. I think that's where they were anyway.

Shellingbynight · 14/10/2024 21:54

They confirmed Joel was identified as the body, and that he was already dead before he hit the river, all within half an episode! At last this dire storyline has moved on, I assume it will now continue until Christmas.

Presumably Uncle Ronnie and Dad did not kill and dump him because they seemed surprised it was murder, but they did ’something’.

I’m hoping Swain did it, then we get shot of her too. But she probably thinks Betsy did it, and Betsy didn’t do it… and round and round we go.

The episode was saved by the Platts. Great David action, and I loved Sarah’s line “I’m the normal one in the Adams family”. It was written by Simon Crowther who has been writing for Corrie for about 20 years.

Bethany got rid of the nose tubes and got a lovely hairdo, well done NHS.

Bye Stu and Mason. Stu was a good character when he arrived but they managed to ruin him pretty fast.

BirthdayRainbow · 14/10/2024 22:07

Maybe they were surprised the police knew he hadn't drowned.

eggandonion · 14/10/2024 22:10

I'm sure Mason isn't going anywhere. He might get a new personality or stay horrible.

DeeDeesfabulouswardrobe · 14/10/2024 23:49

It’s so disjointed, I mean the sudden departure of Stu (not that I’m sorry to see him go, gutted he didn’t take Yasmeen with him) but he had just taken Mason under his wing, given him a job, a home, it was a big storyline which hasn’t been resolved, yet all of a sudden he needs to be by himself so he buggers off leaving Mason at the mercy of his brothers without a second thought, it’s totally ridiculous and absolutely terrible writing. To end the storyline he should have taken Mason with him for a fresh start in Germany, the scriptwriters should be embarrassed.

DeeDeesfabulouswardrobe · 14/10/2024 23:56

Fed up with Corrie turning into ‘The Bill’ note to scriptwriters if you are reading Coronation Street is supposed to be a drama about everyday Northern folk not a gritty crime/ gangster drama, now we have whodunnit with Joel, second note to scriptwriters, We don’t care who killed Joel! Honestly go back and watch Classic to see how Coronation street should be, and as for the abomination of the Jessy and Gail romance, seriously is that the best you can come up with? utter pointless drivel.

DeeDeesfabulouswardrobe · 14/10/2024 23:58

Sarah is alone with Harry in her large swanky flat, why on earth can Nick and his shoes not reside there rather than having to top and tail at Chez Platt?

JellyBeanFactory · 14/10/2024 23:59

@BirthdayRainbow They've obviously killed him because of how he's treated DeeDee.**

I think that's just another misdirection. They threatened him in the precinct.

Lots of people in the frame: Swain, Betsy, Lauren, DeeDee, Uncle Ronnie, Ed, Kit, Max (he threatened Joel when protecting Lauren), Emily (his ex), Ellie, Mason (for Betsy)

How long will "who killed Joel?" last... do we really care 🤣

DeeDeesfabulouswardrobe · 15/10/2024 00:02

The way the scene was shot between Damon and Sarah from above and both of them in bed and Sarah, trying to sound sexy, I really thought Corrie was going to go down the phone sex route, honestly nothing would surprise me these days.

DeeDeesfabulouswardrobe · 15/10/2024 00:02

do we really care 🤣

No.

ArabellaFishwife · 15/10/2024 00:21

Of course we don't care. I care that Lauren and the other victims never got justice. Unless we see some really satisfying flashbacks, this is a shit outcome.

GrandTheftWalrus · 15/10/2024 00:26

It was Roy. He was accused of murdering lauren so no one will suspect he bumped off Joel.

HaddyAbrams · 15/10/2024 00:27

I thought the same Grin

Sorbiecorner · 15/10/2024 06:23

I really dislike stories when they end up going all Cagney and Lacey and not stick to facts and have the likes of Joel appear in court and sent down do justice for the victims.

PayYourselfFirst · 15/10/2024 06:51

I don't think its Joel.
It's a trap to flush him out

He's going to silently appear and go after Lauren, then bam he's going down!!

Shellingbynight · 15/10/2024 09:02

I don’t know if they have deliberately made the Joel storyline hard to follow, or if it is just accidentally rubbish, but either way I don’t care if he is dead or living in Brazil, who killed him (or not) and I don’t even care about Lauren getting justice. I just want it to stop.

Of course Mason will have to turn up as one of the many suspects, to be accused and arrested in rotation. At least it isn’t Swain in charge so there is a faint hope they will find the right person.

The Gail storyline might be nonsense, but it’s light relief and includes all the Platts and dis-includes Swain, Betsy, Joel, Lauren, DeeDee …

Kit is one of the few good recent actors so I hope he’s here longish term. We still don't know much about him, but in the old days they had the next villain warming up in the wings when the previous one departed, so I'm guessing it's him.

Roryno · 15/10/2024 11:18

Are there only three police people working in that station? Swain, Kit and Craigy? None of whom should be given the job in reality as they know everyone involved!

There's the guy who told Swain she shouldn't be on the case as well, so that makes four...

KeepSmiling89 · 15/10/2024 11:28

@Roryno Oh, and also the silent guy taking notes when Kit was interviewing Joel's dad so that's 5

eggandonion · 15/10/2024 13:24

Why didn't Joel's dad have a solicitor. Was Adam busy?

When I read Emily I thought you meant Emily Bishop at first. I was thinking what’s she got to do with anything and more to the point when did she even come back.🤣. Then I remembered Joel’s ex wife.

Waterboatlass · 15/10/2024 20:46

I've not watched Corra in years. Amazing how you slip back in with zero effort!

2 things:

Eileen looks incredible
Gail does too actually. Are Eileen and Gail fighting over John Thompson?
Why doesn't Audrey pay for Bethany's expenses? Has she said? Surely she's got a few grand tucked away

eggandonion · 15/10/2024 20:56

Gail and Eileen both had relationships with John Thompson years ago.
Audrey has lost most of her millions. Her son did an equity release on her house , whilst being a mass murderer. I think Debbie Webster and her nasty sidekick bought the barbers shop? While we were distracted with the sink hole.
