I can’t see another thread on this. Is anyone else watching?

We’ve watched all 3 episodes that dropped last week so waiting on the next one.

I’m not a Tolkien aficionado so have no idea how true it is being to the appendices, etc but I’m enjoying it all the same and it’s nice to see the little nods to the films in terms of production values.

I think she should post her complaints about her absent husband on Mumsnet!

Wow, that was some episode! And what did I say about Elrond and Galadriel, even if it was ostensibly to give her the means to escape? Charlie Vickers is fantastic as Sauron, his face acting is really effective. Brilliant all round! They should just leave the Harfoots/Stoors/The Stranger/Tom Bombadil out of it and it would be loads better.

That was a strong episode. The siege was impressively done. Poor Celebrimbor was having a very bad day.

I am enjoying this season so much more than the first.

The whole Sauron story and production is just great.

Like others, I totally switch off when it goes to the Harfoots and The Stranger.

Confused as to how the Numenor plot will link back to the main story...

The TV show has added so many details and plots to JRRT's outlines but I'll just say without spoilers that how Numenor will link in is absolutely in his books.

I agree - I properly sat and watched this one. There were a few cheesy bits (the light conquering the darkness) but alongside the money on the screen, there was some decent plot and dialogue.

Yeah, I keep wondering where the hell is he? I even had a crazy thought that maybe Adar is him, that he will somehow be de-corrupted and re-emerge as Celeborn, but probably not...

I'd been a bit meh about this series as it felt a bit spun out for the sake of it (not quite as painful as the hobbit films, but still...)

The last episode though was really good - really seeing how Sauron made the rings and how he made people trick themselves - very effective.

FWIW I think ciaran hinds will have a ring and one of the numenoreans and the southern boy.

Galadriel is Elrond's Auntie - just saying.

She is his future MIL, but hey, the elves live a long time so things must be a bit different for them...😂

Ooh, it seems I'm not alone with the theory that Adar could be Celeborn! Just read it elsewhere online... I thought he and Galadriel had chemistry which put the thought into my head and then Morfydd Clark apparently kind of shipped them in a social media post. I do like an odd ship but then I'm a bit weird like that! 😂

I started watching S2 at the weekend and got 2 episodes in before being distracted by the DC. Where are all the hot elves?! Legolas: hot. Legolas' dad: hot. Sauron entering Mordor: hot. Sauron pretending to be an elf: not hot. Gil Galad: not hot. Elrond: semi hot. Where are the ethereal elf hunks with dazzling eyes?! At the moment, the best eye candy is Celebrimbor and I'm too young for that.

I thought we now knew that the Stranger is definitely the big G because I he’s urgently seeking a staff/wand and somebody (possibly Bombadil?) said it was called a Gand. So presumably when he finds it, Nori or someone will have a cute reason to give him the name…was I dreaming?

Definitely agree about lack of attractive elves: only Arondir, IMO

Completely disagree about the lack of hot elves! Sauron as Annatar is smoking, also fancy Gil-Galad, Elrond, and have to admit, Adar! 😛

I am 100% sure who the Stranger is, but I am getting a bit tired of waiting for him to wake up! We are in the middle of an epic war here!
I only watched one episode this week, 7. Have the released more and I missed them? Because I cannot see them in my Prime.....
I am loving it!
The evil of all evils character is already very well formed. Feeds on our ego and insecurities, clouds our judgement, but it is us, only us, who invites it in and allows it to root. Well, them, the elves themselves and one dwarf.
Galadriel, I was not liking that much, but it has taken a new turn since last episode. I am seeing her more wholesome, focus and selfless.
Now left till Thursday, Friday or Saturday, whenever I can watch it, to know if Durin can get his household in order and come to help!

I have not read further books than the Lord of the Rings and I did not read the appendices to that, so I do not know how truthfull it is to Tolkien's writing, but I am loving it!

Adar is really really handsome in my book!
Also, Sauron himself, both as the poor lost king and this elf form of his.
The king of elves does not look bad either. Pity we do not see much of him.

I did feel a bit guilty at my age for finding Galadriel attractive, but then I remembered her age - 3422.

Annatar is so not hot. Sauron entering Mordor: 🔥 Annatar: Legolas' goofy-looking cousin. Maybe it's because I've only seen him in E2 and he improves with different angles in other episodes, but I'm not seeing it.

Gil-galad has been making far too merry at the Elven feasts. Where are the razor-sharp cheekbones?!

I've never understood the thing about Orlando Bloom, as Legolas or otherwise. I find him absolutely bland and boring. And Thranduil, can't see the appeal at all! Not handsome and a terrible wig!

Ben Walker as Gil-Galad has a magnificent voice and presence and is lovely looking too! Charlie Vickers in both guises is beautiful but best of all is Adar! 😂

The actor playing Gil-Galad and his manner remind me of Peter Serafinowicz.

They're mostly improved by being on horseback, as in this week's episode for a couple of them.

Or giant moose, of course.

Was it a moose or an elk? Gil-galad looks like he wears a knitted jumper with elbow patches at the weekend to play with his miniature railway.
