It's baffling Raahh. John was getting pissed off that AC was basically saying he was finished!

Well, he can talk about everyone else retiring.

Excepy Djok or Murray of course. Can't ever discuss them retiring.

Grin

Crowd went 'ooooh' when they mentioned that Jannik will play Matteo next.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 01/07/2024 20:43

Aww I'm going to miss Andy, it's like Rafa and Roger gone and now Andy. We're just left with the robot Djokovic.🤨

Raahh · 01/07/2024 20:46

DD2 has a hospital appointment tomorrow afternoon, so I will miss most of the action.

Italians everywhere.

Bellucci not bad looking either Grin Nice hair.

Raahh · 01/07/2024 20:47

Going in now, due to bad light.

ChessieFL · 02/07/2024 07:29

Morning all. This was my view of Matteo getting his back massage yesterday. Rather disappointing although I can’t complain too much given he very thoughtfully changed his top twice as well as taking it off for the massage. It’s almost a public service really.

And here is the wristband! It’s dried out now.

Great pictures Chessie - is your DD going to get it framed (does it smell of Matteo? Grin)

I’m trying to work out what to watch today - I got a bit overwhelmed by all the matches yesterday

The two show courts look pretty uninspiring - I don’t want to see Djok and I’m not sure that Murray will play

I think Musetti and Lestienne are on at 11am and Paul Jubb is playing Seyboth Wild at the same time Hmm - some of the Brits are in action later as well - wonder if they’ll bump one of them up to centre court if Andy doesn’t play?

I’m not sure that Andy should play - it was awful at Queens - I don’t think he can feel his legs yet and he’s still got stitches from his op - poor Andy Sad

Brilliant photos Chessie! Shame Matteo couldn't have moved a bit to the left.
The wrist band is a great souvenir - you can get his DNA off it --and frame him for murder (sorry, just been watching Criminal Minds Grin).

ChessieFL · 02/07/2024 09:54

Ha! Not sure yet what we’re going to do with it. DH thinks we should wash it but DD and I disagree! Not sure if it might go mouldy if we don’t wash it though…

ChessieFL · 02/07/2024 09:56

And agree re Andy - as much as I would love to see him play and get his proper finale on Centre, I don’t want to see him retire injured or have to pull out of the doubles. I wonder if they would bump his doubles match(es) up to Centre if he does drop out of the singles. Would be weird for his last Wimbledon match to be on Court 4 or something.

kazzaD66 · 02/07/2024 10:21

Just been announced that Andy has withdrawn from the singles but will play doubles with Jamie Sad

Raahh · 02/07/2024 10:29

kazza Not surprising. Very difficult decision all around.

It is very sad for Andy- but that is definitely the best outcome- it's sad that he doesn't get to play singles- but the doubles will be huge- it will surely be on Centre, it be a massive celebration, and packed to the rafters probably.
The atmosphere will be fantastic, I imagine , whatever the result. It's like Roger at the Laver Cup- the result doesn't matter really, does it?

Yes, I don't think Wimbledon have a choice. Surely he must play the doubles on Centre Court. And, as unusual scheduling as that may be, I don't think anyone, players or fans, will disagree.

JaneJeffer · 02/07/2024 10:33

I'd like to see Arthur Fils and Dominic Stricker but with my limited coverage I don't know whether I'll get to.

Love the photos Chessie* *

Anyone going today?

Raahh · 02/07/2024 10:37

I do wonder whether they will bump poor Tomas Machac (and his dodgy shorts) from Centre today though- and put a bigger 'name' on there, since Andy's place will will probably be taken by a lucky loser.

That has happened in other slams, when Djok was banned fron AO , for example- his opponent was bumped from Laver on the opening day.

JaneJeffer · 02/07/2024 10:41

They might stick Jack on there instead if they want a British champion?

Raahh · 02/07/2024 10:43

Oh- that's a good shout- they are likely to want a Brit on there. He's on court 2?

Raahh · 02/07/2024 10:43

Might mess up the schedule a bit.

JaneJeffer · 02/07/2024 10:44

Claire is probably petitioning to get Norris Grin

Raahh · 02/07/2024 10:46

And it has already happened!!

Poor Tomas has been bumped to court 17- but David Goffin gets to play.

And Draper is on Centre.

JaneJeffer · 02/07/2024 10:46

Will Ben get to finish his match first thing? I think Wimbledon usually let them continue before they put the next round on?

No, it looks like the Harriet Dart match is scheduled first. Hmm

JaneJeffer · 02/07/2024 10:48

Aha! Well that is good for David. He must have hung around thinking there was a good chance Andy wouldn't play.
