He did kazza

Well done Sascha - his match against Casper should be interesting - looking forward to the semis now

Alex tends to waffle at times. Correjta, I mean. Too many Alexs tonight Grin

JaneJeffer · 05/06/2024 22:39

Yeah I'm sure Sascha didn't want a big chat about how he trains right after a match!

Raahh · 06/06/2024 10:11

Missed the end, but not too surprised that Sascha won in the end, it was closer at times than it looked. Alex did well to get so far.
I am Team Casper in the next match though. Grin Casper won last year, but I think Sascha is different player this year this, and is a year on from his injuries so it will be a very different match up.

I am confused today- I thought it was Friday. I have this problem every week- i have a mental block with Thursdays Grin

Weather here is miserable -again. Bored of this now Grin. We managed about a day without rain.

This is so sweet www.tiktok.com/@eurosport/video/7377293255072894240

Raahh · 06/06/2024 13:10

That is really sweet, Jane I love her innocence. I hope she gets to stay that way for a bit.

Raahh · 06/06/2024 13:35

Hmm Djok has had surgery. It's 3 weeks to Wimbledon, which for most would put them out of contention.it can take 1-3 months to recover, depending on the treatment.

But he probably had magic meniscus surgery.

Fizzywinegum · 06/06/2024 13:40

I think Taylor Fritz had something similar a few years ago and seemed to come back quite quickly (he is younger than Djok though)

There isn’t much time before Wimbledon and The Olympics though and the change from grass back to clay again - maybe he should just retire (please!)

I’ve had to stop reading about the knee thing - it’s making me feel a bit queasy

Djok definitely needs to take the longest time possible to recover.

Like an indefinite period.

Beginning of DT article..

Went off to watch Doctors (last one before the summer break).

I see Iga is being Iga. It has taken her longer than some of her matches to get to this point, but even so, it's not looking good for Coco.

She could still turn it around, but Iga on clay, is not really the same as fighting back against Aryna on a hard court.

kazzaD66 · 06/06/2024 14:39

Skupsi and Krawczyk lost the mixed doubles final to Siegemund and Roger-Vasselin, who only agreed to play together 2 hours before the deadline (and were still seeded No.2)!

I hope Wimbledon is a Djok free zone. He is desperate for an Olympic gold, so he won't want to jeopardise that.

ChessieFL · 06/06/2024 14:47

I am expecting Iga to win but I thought Coco would be more of a challenge. Still a long way to go though!

Don’t know who will win the next one - don’t feel I’ve seen enough of either player yet to know. Both might suffer from the pressure of the occasion.

Raahh · 06/06/2024 15:11

Score watching and Coco seems to be doing a bit better this set. Still think Iga will win though

JaneJeffer · 06/06/2024 15:20

Coco ended up in tears after a bad call which Amelie wouldn't overrule. It gave her a bit of impetus.

JaneJeffer · 06/06/2024 15:47

Well done Iga. Another abrupt meeting at the net!

JaneJeffer · 06/06/2024 15:49

I think the men manage to be more sporting after a loss for the most part.

JaneJeffer · 06/06/2024 15:53

Alize looks gorgeous in red

ChessieFL · 06/06/2024 16:40

Jasmine has the upper hand in this first set. Hope Mirra can get back into the match a bit more.

Raahh · 06/06/2024 16:57

I don't really mind who wins, but I think it would probably be better, at this stage of her career, for Mirra to get some more experience. The media are brutal and we see too many times what happens when young players reach big finals and then get battered by the press (and she is likely to be annihilated on court by Iga).
I would like this to be more of a match though.

Mirra seems to have a good team behind her (I think Conchita is pretty sensible) so hopefully she can move on from any disappointment, and know her time will come. I think she's been scouted from a very young age. There's plenty of time.

I do like what I've seen of Jasmine though. She played really well in Dubai.

JaneJeffer · 06/06/2024 16:58

Thanks @impossibletoday

"This will be the first time since 2003 that neither of the first two men's grand-slam events of the year are won by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic"

That's amazing!
