Contestants were announced today for the new series starting on Monday 3rd.

I don't know if I can do it this year folks.

It’s all so boring.. I’m not interested in the Joey Essex show either. He gives it large as if he’s mature and so open/communicative and they all take his word as gospel because he’s famous/older. His nasty streak came out telling Grace they’re going to sleep in the hideaway, there’s no need for that when he literally just said he wanted to ‘be there’ for Samantha (ew).

@Aquarius1234 yes, it was a celebrity thing back in the day. I remember Abi Titmuss and Lee (?Sharp) and Jane Middlemiss being in some horrible messy situation. I remember almost nothing else 🤣

Paul Danan was always in the Sheldon’s at that time.

The presenters were always on a beach and I can’t recall who they were now.

I dunno if it was on the main show or an AfterSun type show, but feel like one of the presenters was that stocky guy who was Judith Chalmers' son. He inflicted himself on the nation for a while until someone figured one audiences weren't into him.

Loved that celeb Love Island tho. Titmuss constantly fluttering her lashes and Paul Danan being a wally.

Rollergirl11 · 17/06/2024 23:51

The presenters were Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook.

Paul Danan was an absolute car crash back in the day. He tried to buy me a drink once in a members bar in Shoreditch and those words “do you know who I am?” came out of his mouth when I rebuffed him. Has anyone seen the Pauldananofficial instagram account? Lots of early noughties celeb pics with hilarious captions…

Did anyone else think that conversation was really weird between Ronnie and Tiffany at the end there? It was all drawn out words and seemed like they were both gurning and the faces were weird that Tiffany was pulling

BigLicks · 18/06/2024 00:22

Uma also reminds me a little of Neneh Cherry back in the day.
Loved watching the first love island back in 2005, the kick offs & drama!

Howsaboutthatthenhey · 18/06/2024 00:26

I feel like I know Uma?! So weird, I def don’t, her look is so familiar

Tiffany’s face actions are odd can’t work it out

User191919 · 18/06/2024 00:32

Grace already has lots of connections I think. She’s modelled for Rihannas lingerie brand Fenty and also for FashionNova. She’s already got a big following, including Molly Mae. It just seems unfair on the others

Boo189 · 18/06/2024 00:42

Been reading the thread but thought I’d comment now. I’m finding this whole thing really gimmicky now tbh. I’ll keep watching as nothing else to watch at the minute but producers have obviously done this to try and boost ratings but pretty sure it’s going to back fire, from comments I’ve seen people want Joey and Grace out now. They don’t need to be in there and can continue to build their relationship outside the villa.

Hattyyy · 18/06/2024 01:04

I really like Sean but that conversation he had with Tiffany was a bit awkward. She didn’t seem very interested. Hope someone comes in for him, he is trying and seems to have a lot more respect than some of them.

What’s going on with Mimi and Ayo? Seen absolutely nothing of them.

Feel bad for Sam. Joey is so immature and Grace seems quite smug about the whole thing, seems to be smirking a lot. I agree they don’t need to stay in there but they probably will do.

Is the villa they did the overnight stay in the same as where they do Casa Amor?

Getting a bit bored now.. where are the challenges?

Hattyyy · 18/06/2024 01:09

Ciaron at 21 seems more mature than Joey at nearly 34

honeyrider · 18/06/2024 01:32

Joey and Grace were mean tonight, it's obvious they both knew each other would be going into the villa, just another set-up by the producers.

CellophaneFlower · 18/06/2024 07:22

I haven't watched last night's yet and only just finished off Sundays as I fell asleep during 😳

Samantha really annoyed me trying to put the blame on Harriett about the Sean pool chat. Nothing came from her mouth? "You think she was just making a statement? I do". That was before Harriett even joined the conversation! She actually looked visibly scared when Jess stormed over.

"Was it 'er?". Jess is so disrespectful. Just a nasty bully.

Catlord · 18/06/2024 09:39

Joey is being really twisty and unpleasant towards Samantha, gunning for her to kick off. That's pretty unedifying for someone with his experience to target someone younger with no media experience who really liked him. Gaslighting her, rubbing her face in PDAs, not just accepting she's upset, apologising for any hurt and giving her space but all this crap about it being her rejecting him and pushing for her to let him 'be there'. It can't be put down to immaturity like Ayo and Ronnie acting the goat. Feels like a malicious streak

Catlord · 18/06/2024 09:43

Jess rather enjoyed reporting Grace and Joey kissing to Sam but better she wasn't taken by surprise.

Picoloangel · 18/06/2024 11:27

@Catlord I agree with everything you’ve said. It feels massively set up re Joey and Grace. The treatment of Samantha is horrendous and for a TV show with such an abysmal history of caring for the mental health of past and present contestants (and presenters) it’s really despicable.

I found last night almost impossible to watch. I’m not surprised Samantha wants to leave but Joey and Grace should go.

Rollergirl11 · 18/06/2024 11:42

Agree about Joey and Grace. What is the point in them remaining in the villa? If they already had a connection from before then why do they need the process of the villa? It makes a total mockery of the premise of the show.

The LI producers prove time and time again that they have no idea what their viewers want to see. I get that they have tried to mix it up a bit but having someone like Joey Essex as an islander was an odd choice as it was. Now bringing in a girl that he has already built a connection with and them rekindling seems like a step too far. Joey doesn’t need any help “getting the girl” let alone one he’s already “got”.

CellophaneFlower · 18/06/2024 12:21

Watched it now! I don't get why Joey told Grace he still liked Samantha and wasn't closing it down with her, when obviously that's a total lie? I wonder if he's trying to keep Grace on her toes due to stuff that happened outside the villa? Perhaps he was always more into her than she him? I can't work him out at all, as all the stuff he's said to Samantha is clearly not him attempting to let her down gently as he wouldn't then do what he did straight after.

I have no idea why Samantha, I think it was, said Ronnie and Joey are the best looking in the villa. I'm struggling to imagine anybody can look so much worse on tv than they do in real life (Ronnie)? I know people who photograph terribly, but in person are really attractive as they're so confident and their personality shines through but Ronnie has zero personality, his flirting is crap and he's not pulling off the cheeky chappy thing at all. I literally shudder every time he's on screen... and not in a good way.

Omar and Kieron are the only 2 I'd be interested in in there.

usernother · 18/06/2024 12:37

I think the sooner Casa Amour happens the better.

Butterfly1616 · 18/06/2024 13:02

Tiffany seems to have a ten second delay to everything?

sundaysathome · 18/06/2024 13:09

as much as I loved the idea of Joey being there initially, I think it's silly now he's rekindling with an ex who already has an impressive profile similar to or bigger than ex islanders from the past.

Catlord · 18/06/2024 13:41

Not snarkily meant but I wondered whether Tiffany is either nervous to speak and make a fool of herself or on some sort of anti anxiety making her a bit dazed. Surely she must need to think on her feet a bit in HR to answer questions?

I understand why people want Grace and Joey out.
We know that there is a lot of producer interference, but viewers don’t want to be taken for mugs.
Joey obviously knew that Grace was coming into the villa which was why he wasn’t affectionate to Sam
I initially thought that Joey was almost asexual. It turns out he was waiting for his preference to arrive in the villa . He can’t keep his hands off Grace

The show started off well, but it is getting a bit boring now. Need a few challenges and a new male bombshell

Cudz · 18/06/2024 15:24

Just came on to find similar minded folk as no-one I know in 'real life' is watching Love Island this year. I'm finding Tiffany ridiculously annoying yet mesmerising at the same time. Why is she constantly so vacant just staring into space and smiling like the Joker?! She's so so strange! X

Both plausible, I used to be on the max dose for sertraline and my brain felt like it was operating through treacle. Although supposedly they’re more careful with MH issues on LI these days so not sure they’d cast someone who would struggle so much.

MollyJustMight · 18/06/2024 21:06

Two weeks they've all known each other, how can they get so involved after such a short time. Tbh Joey dodged a bullet with Sam. Grace is in another league.
