Have to admit I never watched the original apart from the odd episode here and there.

But thought I would post a link for anyone interested

(Couldn't see another link so sorry if a duplicate.)

BBC One - Rebus

DS Rebus is drawn into a violent criminal conflict that turns personal.

Not relevant to this but I’d really like to see something written set in working class communities that showed people as just normal and not everything all grim and weird.

Clocking Off?

Coronation Street? 😂 the thing is the place where his brother is supposed to live is fucking grim.

In reality I mean!

I assumed it was temporary accommodation, otherwise the family must have been on the waiting list for a very long time to get it.

Started watching and thought this is just so cliched and amateurish.

I felt there was something quite off with the speaking, it didn't feel natural. I agree with PP that Richard Rankin's facial expressions were good but a lot of his speaking sounded weird, same with his brother and some of the other characters. Was it because they were trying to do an Edinburgh accent but not from here? Was it the way they were directed? It was noticably odd, to me anyway.

Some of the casting I felt was wrong too.

What was?

I didn't think it was much like the books and I much prefer Ken Stott. I worked in police admin in the 70s and 80s and KS could have walked in to the station where I worked and fit in, he just seemed so believable to me, not sure if that's a good thing or not but makes me nostalgic. I can't say the same about this one.

Never even heard of it honestly
