I couldn’t see another thread on this. Anyone watched it yet? There were a lot of uncomfortable aspects particularly with the vlogger dad & his wife. It was fascinating to me how he was a Christian & very open about his faith while then leading a double life. I found the pregnancy test thing incredibly weird.
I’ve seen all the episodes but wary of giving too much away!

The religious types are always the most duplicitous. What a creep the blogger was and what an idiot his wife was for forgiving him.

Just finished it.
It's made me glad I am not married. I saw myself in that poor young wife - realising men are just like this and nothing you do will make a difference.

I also didn't buy his crocodile tears, the nervous twitch checking camera, then wiping his face and looking up...bull. He's still at it.

Edited

He reminded me of Colin on mafs, the over reaction and false emotion.

LunaNorth · 23/05/2024 13:45

Sam and Nia were vacuous beyond words. Every conversation they had their eye contact seemed to be directed at the camera. Their poor kids having to do everything with a camera pointed at them. Emoting for clicks. Yuk.

Not only that, but Sam was as thick as mince. I’d be seriously getting someone to double check my meds dosages if he was ever my nurse. I’m amazed he can count.

IcedPurple · 23/05/2024 13:52

There was also that other couple. The dominatrix who had an 'open relationship' with her husband who said he scored lots of ladies on Ashley. But given that there were hardly any actual women on the site, I wonder if that's true? They both seemed 'off' to me. Not because of their 'open relationship' but their story just didn't make sense to me.

LunaNorth · 23/05/2024 14:10

I quite liked the wife, at least she was open and honest 😳

Anabella321 · 23/05/2024 14:10

I remember when the pregnancy toilet video came out - what a load of rubbish. I can't believe they're still pretending that it was real.

I agree that Sam is an absolute asshole. This is the problem when a family's entire income is generated from family vlogging. No family, no vlog, no income. So I guess she's staying because she wants to maintain her income and lifestyle.

She got married young, and I assume from the programme that she never had a career of her own prior to or after her marriage.

To be honest, the fact they even agreed to do the documentary shows that there's something amiss.

SleepEatSnoozeRepeat · 23/05/2024 14:35

Karma, my friends, karma.
Men hiding behind power and religion being duplicitous arseholes. Not a surprise.
I enjoyed watching the fall out though. No one made these men sign up. Not a bit of sympathy for any of them. I loved that it was all bots and office staff too. Look what your greedy behaviour achieved, good grief! Was that really worth it?!
Good binge watch for a wet day!

Amdone123 · 23/05/2024 15:31

I watched it this morning and really enjoyed it. @chocolatecoveredpeanut your comment about him taking the lyrics to that bloody annoying song literally made me laugh. And now I can't stop singing it.
I agree with all on here - Sam erghhhh. So disappointed in Nia - I was so hoping for a different ending. I hate those vloggers too, poor kids - little money - making machines.

Yes they seemed a bit random to me. Almost like they were just actors playing a part because the producers couldn't find anyone else for the show!

Yes, that's why I didn't really feel sorry for Nia. I don't think she is as sweet and innocent as she seems. She is basically using her 'happy Christian family' as a commodity, and for that she needs to stay married. You'd have to be a fool to buy whatever it is they're selling however.

chocolatecoveredpeanut · 23/05/2024 18:48

While I also felt disappointed in her I do think we need to remember she is a pretty devout Christian and has no other framework for what to do but forgive. I do think she has some emotional issues, possibly why she is drawn to someone who needs so much external validation. I do feel for the kids when they grow up and realise daddy was probably humping their babysitter/teacher/friends mums etc etc.

Depending on how you look at it it was brave or foolish doing a Netflix show on it. Got them a bit more fame, sure, but I bet a lot of people aren't being kind in the aftermath.

The other couple seem to have an almost business agreement. It's more like a business partnership with the odd benefit thrown in. I respected them for being open and honest about it. It did feel cold but I imagine it's a better option than growing old alone for some who can stomach it.

IcedPurple · 23/05/2024 20:31

I agree that her Christian background would have conditioned her to forgive, and probably to believe that she is nothing without a man, even a lying, cheating sleazy man.

I do think she's very conscious of their 'brand' however. That whole 'good looking parents' thing? Cringe! And she must have been in on that obviously fake pregnancy test nonsense. So I don't think she's totally naive and unworldly. She will be aware that she needs her 'good looking' husband to help sell the commodity which is her attractive, supposedly happy, Christian family.

PrettySenior · 23/05/2024 21:16

And it didn't seem like Nia had much of a support system to rely on - she lost a close friend because of Sam and she had to wonder why her other friends didn't tell her about his behaviour. It would have been very hard for her to leave, be independent, support the kids, etc especially as she wouldn't have had her vlogger income.

Still, it was really disappointing to see what doormats all the women were - the CEO's wife, the pastor's wife, and Nia. The only one who had much of a spark about her was the dominatrix!

MrsDTucker · 23/05/2024 21:34

@PrettySenior

Because she was getting what she wanted out of it.

chocolatecoveredpeanut · 22/05/2024 12:55

I honestly thought he might come out as gay. It's not that he acts it but that I wouldn't put anything past him at this point.

I just watched this and thought the exact same at one point!

MrsDTucker · 04/06/2024 14:14

I wonder why these "take overs" don't happen more often.

I mean the really good ones don't get caught and could get the government / police / big companies to do whatever they liked to save their data / income / productivity.

GentlemanJay · 04/06/2024 14:23

I know a lady. She is married and meets men behind her husbands back. She met a guy who was also cheating on his wife. She met him on Ashley Maddison. His occupation. He was a vicar. True story.

Sue152 · 04/06/2024 15:11

I think Sam is a narcissist. The thing that really confirmed it for me was that he said he was cheating on Nia because he was desperate for attention, then he stopped cheating when they got on youtube and he was getting attention from 'likes' and people on there - I think that desperation for attention was him looking for supply.

I had no time for the woman whose husband committed suicide. She just seemed to be making excuse after excuse for him. He was a Pastor on AM, what a vile creep.

I thought it was hilarious that 90 - 95% of people on AM were men. What a bunch of sad, attention seeking twats men are. If there were 37 million people on AM at its peak and 90% were men, that's around 33 million men signed up to cheat.

Sleepismyfavourite · 17/05/2024 09:14

Yes I was very unconvinced by the vlogger guy. I went away feeling pretty sure he would do it again. He seemed very manipulative & shifty. I loved how he said he had asked the Lord for forgiveness & the Lord had forgiven him. Oh ok then!

This is the problem - his pastor and his wife were the counsellors 🙄

theemptinessmachine · 05/10/2024 22:43

Just watched this and much more to it all than I realised. Hmmmm that Christian guy - do we know for a fact that he didn't meet up with anyone?

fairydustt · 08/01/2025 13:55

I need to comment on the ‘husband tells wife she’s pregnant’ video because this is the bit I just got to but what a load of crap lol, there is no way that is not staged, firstly did she not flush the toilet? Secondly how would he know when was the perfect day to do the test? I’ve just found out I’m pregnant I got my positive on the day my period was due (didn’t test before then) my husband would have NO idea what day to do the test, and if he did it after my period was due, I would know anyway!!

SpikyCoconut · 17/03/2025 20:24

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm just watching this now and the main questions I have are, why did she leave her pee in the loo and did he have to show it on camera? How did he know she'd have left her pee in the loo?!
I'm missing the point , i know.
