So my husband has cancelled prime and netflix and wants to give NOW a try, with a 6 month deal of some kind. So does anyone on here subscribe, what's it like is there plenty of choice, worth the money ? I don't want to get stuck with something crappy for 6 months, I prefer swapping around every month or so really.

Its basically sky movies (if you get the movie package) but lots of box sets as well. We often go through to cancel and they usually give us a half price deal to stay. We probably dont watch much of the entertainment package (HBO, gold, sky one, sky arts etc) but currently on half price deal with that too. We are getting both bundles for less than £20 currently.

shellyleppard · 29/04/2024 18:34

I have the now TV app and it's okay.... good selection of new ish films and the price is good too (I'm currently paying £4.99 a month) . We also have them for our broadband

QueSyrahSyrah · 29/04/2024 18:37

Well it's ultimately Sky, so there's everything you'd find on the Sky channels, depending which package (Entertainment, Movies, Sport).

We don't have it at the moment as we'd watched everything we wanted to and are trying to save a bit of money but won't rule out getting it again in the future.

chattyness · 29/04/2024 18:40

Thanks everyone, sounds good to me then, we cancelled our sky just before the pandemic and have been swapping around netflix & prime etc ever since but Prime has turned into crap lately. I have missed a lot of programmes that we were watching on sky like Succession & Upright etc

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 that's the same package we're getting £19.99 per month I'm glad there's lots to choose from ,hooray!

There's plenty on there to watch over 6 months, never pay full price as they always give you a deal when you try to leave.

My preferred streaming service is Disney + there's so much more on there than just Disney with Star and National Geographic.

Tumbler2121 · 29/04/2024 18:41

There's Films which is Sky Cinema, and Entertainment which is telly, Telly pretty good, no adverts and you can binge watch things. I tend to have the films for about a month a year to catch up. You can cancel anytime.

chattyness · 29/04/2024 18:43

@Singleandproud We did give Disney+ a try and I liked it but he didn't same as Paramount+ I can always find something I like even on the free channels now, it's finding something we both like to watch that's been the problem in recent years

I don’t reckon much to the cinema package tbh, the odd exciting new addition but other than that really disappointed in it. I think the entertainment package is much better - I cancel and resubscribe as and when I fancy it. I cancel and usually wait for them to give me a cut-price offer and then I come back - I won’t go above £2.99 a month these days. Grin

curiositykilledthiscat · 29/04/2024 19:05

I’m stuck with it until July as I signed up again with their only offer at the time - six months minimum for £5.99 a month - which I signed up as it was the only way to watch True Detective. Gone are the old days when you could sign up for just one month, sadly. I also watched Julia and Mary and George (both OK but nothing special). I couldn’t get into The Regime.

You can pay another fiver to watch without ads.

Going back a bit, I can recommend The White Lotus, Six Feet Under, Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects. Nothing on there currently interests me but I’m hoping Apples Never Fall comes onto it before my deal ends.

Hi. Just something to be aware of, but when I tried to cancel NOW, it was nigh on impossible to do. In the end, I had to go in person to the local branch of my bank and ask them to do it there. Not even phoning the bank had worked!
I personally wouldn't sign up to NOW again for that reason. The Trust Pilot reviews don't lie!

Singleandproud · 29/04/2024 20:04

I haven't had the same experience as @JMSA I just click on the cancel subscription button, go through a couple of pages of , 'are you sure you want to? This is the new content being added' followed by 'if you stay you can have a deal of £x.99 a month for 6 month's' but once youre through all of that cancelling the membership has gone through with no issue.

QueSyrahSyrah · 29/04/2024 20:09

I've not had the same experience as @JMSA either and I've cancelled and rejoined several times. You need to log in on a desktop browser rather than the app to cancel but it's very straightforward (aside from the usual having to confirm on about 4 different pages while they try and persuade you not to).

EmmaEmerald · 29/04/2024 20:11

It’s really good for content.

Sadly I had to get rid of it because it got hacked twice.

Twice somebody made extra purchases from my account.

The first time, Now TV refunded it no problem.

Second time - which happened an exact week later, and exactly the same time of day, they were less sympathetic, and they said “we can prove that this transaction happened from your home - you must’ve done it by mistake”.

So the only option I had was to cancel it and that was that hard work. They really argued with that though it was monthly at that stage.

I ended up telling the credit card company to put them on the barred list. I don’t understand how it got past the two factor authentication either.

It did get notified to my email, which is why I knew it happened.

I googled and many people have had the same experience. Hopefully it’s improved by now.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 29/04/2024 20:30

I also agree, its really easy to cancel through the website. Not what happened with yours @JMSA but as other posters have said, we get about 3-4 pages asking if we are sure about cancelling, usually offer a deal to stay then either accept it or cancel.

chattyness · 29/04/2024 20:42

jeezo don't like the idea of it being hacked

It can probably happen with anything.

I just wanted to highlight it so if you can put some extra security on then do.

it was when I googled and saw that it happened to so many other people that I became a bit suspicious, there may be flaws in their security? But they may have sorted them by now.

I pay £2 to watch without ads. I went to cancel and they offered me a deal for £2 so I took it
