So having filled my boots up with crimping (bouncy, bouncy) and Milky Joe, I just wanted to ask whether you'd let your 5yo watch the Boosh?

Jo Whiley does. But scariness and bad language aside, would a child that young get any of the humour? I struggle with some of it and I'm very old grown-up.

no. a 5yo probably wouldn't get it i think. my 10yo however would absolutely get it but then he has a strange sense of humour (just like his mum ).

sorkycake · 23/03/2008 15:19

It was fab wasn't it. I didn't know Bolo was so good looking underneath

TheArmadillo · 23/03/2008 15:31

No I wouldn't. But older children with tv show fine imo as it isn't too bad (well earlier series at least) might go over their heads a bit though.

When I went to the stage show there was an enormous amount of children there and the show was much more explicit.

They seemed rather pissed off about the number of children TBH,

I can't believe I missed a boosh weekend

Telly is bust and not getting new one until wednesday.

annemarie29 · 23/03/2008 15:50

thearmadillo, is the stage show good? dh and i were thinking of trying to get tickets. i love vince..he's lovely!

TheArmadillo · 23/03/2008 16:02

We saw it last time.
Twice

It was fab.

Really really good.

I would say it's one of the best shows I've seen.

But it is a lot more explicit than the tv show and a lot cruder. SO not for kids

marialuisa · 23/03/2008 17:01

My 7 year old loves it, it's a Daddy and DD bonding thing.

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 23/03/2008 17:45

Noel said in an interview last night that some parents at a live show had asked during the interval whether they could stop swearing as their little boy was only 4.

Unfortunately the 2nd half of the show contained the stump-f@*king scene...

I saw the programme last night too and was tut-tutting to DP about Jo Whiley letting her children watch it.

BTW -I think I find Noel Fielding quite attractive in a strange sort of way -am I weird or is it acceptable??

TheArmadillo · 23/03/2008 17:49

I find parents like that really arrogant.

Seems to be a lot of it around nowadays.

Take your children somewhere/to something inappropriate and then complain that it is inappropriate.

I can imagine junior school kids watching some of the tv show, but as it is on as an after the watershed show, why the hell not check before taking them to the stage show?

It really annoys me. I am an adult and like swearing and love the stage show. Why show it be changed to make it child-appropriate? I didn't take my kid

TheArmadillo · 23/03/2008 17:50

*should

Why should my enjoyment be curtailed cos someone can't check what is suitable for their brat or not.

Taweret · 23/03/2008 17:52

Love The Boosh, and will be seeing them live in September.

I don't let my DC watch it though - there is the odd inappropriate moment and use of bad language that I'd not be happy for them to see.

WalnutEGGshell · 23/03/2008 17:53

betty, it is on the cusp of acceptability, you're ok

BettySpaghetti · 23/03/2008 17:55

Thanks WalnutEGGshell -its the first time I've admitted it so I was a bit worried

WalnutEGGshell · 23/03/2008 17:56

as long as you know that stiletto's are a no-no

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 23/03/2008 17:59

Armadillo, I agree. If some parents don't mind the swearing or having to explain bizarre sexual pratices to their small children, then I guess that's their choice but it's ridiculous to ask for a live show to be changed on the spot to make it more child-friendly. If you'd made an error of judgement, you should just go home!

Betty - it seems that lots of MNers fancy Noel 'the confuser' Fielding. However, I am not one of them!

Its most definitely NOT the stilettos or glam-rock sparkly jumpsuits, just "something" I can't quite put my finger on... and his smile

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 24/03/2008 21:17

interview is on bbc3 again now...
