Anyone else watching this later on? I watched and I think was a big freaked out by this film in the 80s.

I'm recording it. Look forward to watching. It freaked me out when I watched it in the 80s too.

AthenaWhite · 02/02/2024 19:13

Is it a new drama?

Classic 80s horrors either freaked the hell out of you or didn’t! Still get slightly freaked out (but love the trailer) when I hear Tubular Bells (The Exorcist).

Yes, series. On Iplayer. How accurate it is I don’t know.

AthenaWhite · 03/02/2024 06:14

I set planner for it

scoobs321 · 03/02/2024 08:59

I was disappointed, not a drama in fact I don't really know what you'd call it. Kind of a re-hash of the true story its based on with interviews/film footage.

I got the impression it was sort of a combo of drama/rehash of true story. Rather than drama.

It's like a documentary with talking heads and a few drama scenes. Interesting though.

Henowner · 03/02/2024 11:05

I watched the first episode, thought nothing of it, then woke up shit scared in the night 😂
It's the possession aspect of the murders that terrifies me!

Which is why I don’t watch this or any jump horrors (Scream etc!) last thing at night! 🤣

@Blondeshavemorefun i agree with you! And then saw most of what the Lutz’s have said is lies. How many of the people interviewed here were paid?!

I watched ep 1 last night on BBC2 then ep 2 late last night on i player then 3 and 4 this afternoon. i was just going to start a thread then found this one

JenniferBooth · 03/02/2024 16:40

You really need to watch all of them

JenniferBooth · 03/02/2024 16:43

Its actually Amityville An ORIGIN story so thread title needs to be changed

Nitgel · 03/02/2024 16:45

It's the documentary of the history of the true story of the house, murders and subsequent plethora of amityville films and merchandise pawned from a truly tragic multiple murder case.

Grim all round imo especially when the real life friends of the murdered family are interviewed.

Wasn't anything I didn't already know but did highlight how fucked up the whole thing is.

donteatthedaisies0 · 03/02/2024 16:49

I've also read several articles where it's debated it's all lies . Tragic murders and nothing more .

JenniferBooth · 03/02/2024 16:50

@Nitgel has just summed it up. George and Kathy Lutz did end up getting divorced because she was unhappy with him pushing a fictionalized version of events. And he was very abusive in his first marriage which is revealed in part 4

misunderstoodMilo · 03/02/2024 23:02

I have just watched the first three episodes and don’t know how well I will sleep tonight! I read the book and seem to recall there were a few sequels. Then I saw the original film and am a bit shocked now because I was only a child.

I knew most of the story because I’ve always been a bit obsessed by it and the aftermath about it being a hoax. However what was this from the son Christopher about his parents going on a publicity tour after the book and film came out and they put him and his siblings in an orphanage, WTF?

donteatthedaisies0 · 04/02/2024 01:46

I know the whole thing was made up to make money out of those tragic murders 🤮 . It's really quite sick .
