Anyone watching? It’s fascinating.

I carried on watching it but from episode 2 onwards it was clear they wanted to convert everyone to veganism.

Dontbugmemalone · 16/01/2024 19:28

I've watched this and found it really interesting. Some of the things I've come across in my studies were mentioned and its both fascinating and horrifying in equal measure.

I'm already a vegetarian and do struggle with dairy and eggs but there is a wide choice out there now.

It just shows that no-one needs meat every single day as I'm so frequently told.

I did find it a little disappointing that some of the things weren't followed throughly, they would have had more reliable results.

Have you seen the other documentary called Gamechangers? I think it's the same team behind it.

Justkoko · 16/01/2024 19:31

I've not seen this but have got the impression in the past that shows of this kind on Netflix are simply pushing veganism.

Thanks I’ll check it out.

I got a bit bored after a bit tbh. The most interesting thing was it basically demonstrated why diet and exercise trials are so flawed- because compliance is generally a bit shit. Also it’s v US centric so a lot of the stuff about farming standards doesn’t apply to the UK. I don’t buy US meat or dairy but tbh I’d have a job because I literally never see it in the shops.

LaPalmaLlama · 16/01/2024 20:01

Ps I agree that we should all eat less meat. I’m less convinced about veganism on a universal basis just due to food miles and how much grazing can realistically be converted to arable- this varies massively geographically. I’m generally wary of all or nothing solutions to complex problems

Anything that gets these animals out of those mother fucking slaughter houses (worked in one) gets my vote.

Weefreetiffany · 16/01/2024 20:07

The vegan televangelism has begun. Must be January!

EdgarsTale · 16/01/2024 20:09

I enjoyed it but it was very biased towards veganism. I was surprised how much it pushed ultra-processed fake meat products which look disgusting & aren’t exactly healthy.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/01/2024 20:21

Is this like that one with Gillian McKeith about 20 odd years ago?

PicklesAndTequila · 16/01/2024 20:24

I watched it and it was clear that it was pushing veganism.

LuciferRising · 16/01/2024 20:32

It was pushing veganism, and US centric, but it doesn't make it wrong. I found the climate aspect interesting. I am a vegetarian but will be researching what I buy for DD and DH and will no longer buy or prepare meat / fish I am unhappy with.

skintselfemployed · 16/01/2024 20:42

What I thought was interesting was that the peoples results were not really that positive. The vegan diet group lost a lot of muscle - there wasn't really an overwhelming sense that the vegan diet was better overall in the subjects

I decided this in episode 1 so binned it off!

idontlikealdi · 16/01/2024 21:02

I wanted to be interested but have no interest in veganism. It was will. Gave up 1.5 episodes in.

cosypompoms · 16/01/2024 21:06

By the end it doesn't say anything positive about being vegan.

I just wanted to watch the study not loads of bumpf on foods.

The porn bit put me off too.

PrincessPeaches123 · 21/01/2024 18:16

Currently watching. Am getting a bit frustrated by the fact that did anyone track calories? If the total energy wasn't like for like what sense can it make?
