Just catching up and crying, how lovely is their friendship and Johannes saying thanks strictly for sending her his way.
Annabel was a beautiful ballroom dancer and I’m glad being in this helped her heal.
Bobby danced so well too so deserves his place.

I did think Bobby’s dance really highlighted the lack of a traditionally dancing male celeb. He appeared to be leading and doing proper couple dancing, and it feels like ages since a celeb has done that!

Agree. Controversial view perhaps but I don’t think Layton has done that at all.

Annabel will do some media appearances this week and she’ll have to be taught the eliminated finalists’ dance at some point (Friday?) and rehearse it on Saturday afternoon so she’ll still be busy. However, I think that she might have a “come-down” the following week when she has more spare time to think about her husband and the SCD routine and training regime has gone away. Luckily she has her three lovely kids and she seems to have good friends. And a steady gig as a tennis pundit. She’ll be ok.

Ellie had arguably her least convincing two dances in weeks and Bobby had two crowdpleasers and he still couldn't get more votes than her. Barring her doing an AJ (please no), he can't beat her in the final.

I would love it if the judges chose Ellie's Paso and then Ellie chose her AS. I think there's a good chance the judge's will choose her week 1 jive or her week 2 foxtrot (twee styling and Vito out Vito'd himself with a weird gurning jumping step) though. I hope they don't pick her Samba from week 4. I loved her Paso and would be thrilled to see it again but she would be wise to pick her AS. Easier to get a 40 for as she got 39 I think and her dress was beautiful and Vito was in tails. It will appeal to a wide range of voters and they'll both benefit from looking great when the results are called out.

I hope the judges choose Layton's week 2 quickstep. It was a great dance, he can show he's improved and it's a ballroom. I expect he will chose his musicals week dance again or his AT. Layton also did a great cha cha and a great salsa and the judges may choose one of those. If feeling mean, they may choose his week 3 Rizzo dance (VW was it?).

Bobby may well choose his couples choice again. He did a good AS and may choose ballroom for his choice of dance after Shirley called him the King of Ballroom... judges will choose his samba again I think.

I know they can do dances from musicals week in the final as Helen did last year. Can they pick one of this week's dances again, do we know? I'm sure in the early days there was a cut off for repeating dances.

@MouseMinge - totally agree with everything you said. I have lurked on these threads but haven't posted because I have been out of step with all the Layton lovers. I have nothing against him personally but cannot get over the fact that he is a pro dancer.

It may have brought a new audience as pp mentioned but it's lost me I'm afraid. I thought Annabel was amazing and a true joy to watch and I enjoy Ellie but am really not bothered about the final now.

I'm sure the producers won't give two hoots about alienating loyal old viewers like me but Strictly doesn't feel the same, which is rather sad as I have enjoyed it so much in the past.

Having been with a friend through the death of her husband which is now nearly three years ago and almost exactly three years before we learned that treatment wasn't working and it was terminal I have to say that Annabel's fortitude was an absolute inspiration. I'm sure she'll have a bit of a difficult time after this because she'll be back to normal life but even if she'd gone through to the final and even if she'd magically won the glitter ball that would be the case. I shall miss her a lot because she moved me more than any other dancer this year. I'm sure Amanda would have done if she'd stayed on but she didn't. My friend became something closer to herself earlier this year and it was a delight. She's still grieving and there are bad days but she was finally living and laughing again. Not praying, thankfully! Annabel has a lot more grief go to through and I hope the lovely memories of this show and how gentle and kind Johannes was to her will help her through. I'm so glad she got him as a partner. If she'd had a hot straight dancer the "are they at it?" from the press would have been sickening.

I know two 'young' widows and it's been a very hard journey for them. Even when they found lovely new partners, the grief was still raw after years. Kudos to Annabel for being so brave. She even did her Wimbledon job this year. Flowers

I've not particularly enjoyed watching Annabel she's been the weak link for me but ive loved how much she's appreciated the opportunity and her partnership with JJ. She's one classy lady.

Two thoughts: how chuffed did Graziano look at getting to come on with Mr Darcy the golden retriever?! And isn't Mark Owens starting to look a bit like Mackenzie Crook in the Detectorists?

Their farewell speech were lovely and brought a tear to my eye.

Annabel looked like she was ready to leave and accepted her fate graciously.

I've not been a fan of her Latin dancing, but she has gained so much from being in the show, and should be proud.

I really like someone who has no dance experience and does well. Annabel was one of the only ones who's dances got me emotionally every time. She done absolutely amazing and Johannes was the absolute right partner for her. She came out her comfort zone during a very difficult time and has done amazingly. She's just so polite aswell. Xxx

In a way, almost a blessing as Annabel wouldn't have got to talk about her journey and Johannes if she's made the final.

She and Bobby were pretty evenly matched in the danceoff so I can't resent it.

I forgive a lot of Craig's bullshit this season after he chose to save Annabel. His reasons were perfect and it wasn't because Bobby wasn't good enough it was because he preferred the vw which is unusual on SCD. Good on him.

I don't think they should be allowed to repeat their CC in the final. They already get a show dance to do. Mind you I'm getting sick and tired of couple's choice dances anyway.

Yes, I kind of had the impression she was expecting to go right from the beginning of yesterday's show. She looked genuinely surprised when Craig picked her to save.

Bobby really has improved, he looked less like an overgrown kid this week. Bless him in tears at Annabel and Johannes's speeches at the end.
