Seems strange it is on BBC2. More BBC3?

And not sure I will tune in but know some on this forum like a bit of witchcraft!

I see from the web site it says all 8 episodes available https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0grp58f

Which means I can binge it over New Year when there are nothing but repeats. I wonder how long they will keep it on iPlayer.

BBC Two - Mayfair Witches

A doctor discovers her family's deadly supernatural legacy - and her time has come.

I also missed all the renovation of the house bits, and Rowan finding all the old silver and linens in the butlers pantry Sad

The other but I missed was the sit down with the lawyer choosing other members of the family to make gifts to as the new designee.

It’s not what I wanted it to be Hmm

Is it worth reading the book?

EmpressaurusOfCats · 15/12/2023 16:36

I enjoyed the books.

@Goddessonahighway have you seen True blood? it's worth watching just for the theme song.

Absolutely agree!

purpleme12 · 18/12/2023 21:27

I'm watching this.
Watched episode 3 so far.
I don't understand why they've put it on so late though

TanyaHazyCheekyBooMagycktoo · 23/12/2023 22:01

It's obvious from this adaptation, that they never read the books. This is an abomination of 'The Late Great, Anne Rice's Novels'.
Woke at it's finest.
The main characters were either misrepresented or forgotten, where was Lamal, Michael Curry and Arron Lightner. The Talamasca was never represented that way. The necklace wasn't a key, the key came later on' the necklace was an emerald gem, the size of a thumb nail encased in a gold filigree casing... Get it right or don't do it at all!
It is obvious that this was done after 'Our Beloved Anne Rice passed away', because if she saw this she's be twirling in her grave

TanyaHazyCheekyBooMagycktoo · 23/12/2023 22:21

I have been an avid 'Anne Rice' follower, I bought my first book 'Interview with the Vampire' in 1979 ( I still have the original copy), then 'Lasher'.
Then came 'The Witching Hour', 'Lasher' and 'Taltos.
I have been reading 'Anne Rice' since I was 14yrs old.... as I said before...GET IT RIGHT

EmpressaurusOfCats · 23/12/2023 22:25

I wonder how they intend to handle the sequels? The exploits of Mona Mayfair spring to mind.

In order to avoid spoilers I’m not going to go into any further details. Anyone who’s read the other books will know what I mean.

This recap of the last episode made me laugh

Anyone watching the second series?

Lovewine1975 · 18/09/2025 09:41

@purpleme12I’ve not got round to watching it yet, is it any good, I’ve seen the first series and quite enjoyed that

purpleme12 · 18/09/2025 22:11

I'm enjoying watching it

Almost finished now. On last episode

swimsong · 19/09/2025 10:05

Having read the trilogy, I think the lead actress was a very poor choice.

purpleme12 · 19/09/2025 11:33

Why?

BatshitCrazyWoman · 19/09/2025 11:37

I've added this to my list of things to watch. I agree with PPs that True Blood is bloody brilliant, so I heartily recommend it.
