I think a lot of people don't know there IS a meaning to it - they just think it's the name of a reality show. Especially younger people. Some will know, of course, but something I've observed as someone who watches quite a few quiz shows is that people around 40+ tend to have better general knowledge and just generally broader awareness of culture, history and so on.
They won't know everything, but they'll have that general awareness of important books and roughly when they were written, even if they haven't read them, they'll be aware of major historical events and have a rough idea of when things happened, which kings and queens were around at the time, they'll be aware of major political events, aware of world geography and roughly where different countries are - just general background understanding of things that allows them to make an educated guess at questions they don't know. Like, if a question is "Which author wrote XYZ in 1850?" They'll name a 19th-century author.
And what you see a lot is that many (NOT ALL!) younger contestants just don't have much of a clue about things outside of their particular field of study or their job or their immediate cultural knowledge. There was a pair of very bright young medical students on Pointless once who were great on medical questions but completely hopeless on pretty much everything else.
And yes, I'm generalising, I know, and I've gone off on a bit of a wild tangent, but anyway, this is why I do not think there is necessarily that level of awareness of the book Nineteen Eighty-Four, or of other classic books that perhaps we take for granted everyone knows about.
Anyway... I've voted Hallie. I kind of like Trish and I think Dylan's all right. And as much as Kerry is irritating, I think the house is more interesting with a range of ages in there, so I don't want the few older ones to go.
