A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese, Thai & Chinese drama as & when.

but our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. I've just watched the first episode of castaway diva - was not expecting it to be so heart wrenching!! Assume it will become a bit more light hearted but so far I am 😭😭

I am also watching SG Nam Soon - don't think it's as good as Bong Soon - the drug investigation plot is good, and her bonkers family is great too, but I miss the chemistry of Bong Bong and Min Min. Although happy to have a few less random side plots (could pretty much leave all the random gangster stuff from SGBS)

We have just finished SGBS, I think it is the maddest thing I have ever seen ! DH found the gangsters hilarious though. I hate the baby voices Dol Bong does in particular for the first few episodes - I had a very tiny (4ft 10) and beautiful friend who spoke to all men like that, I found it deeply cringy but the men didn’t seem to mind …

Ohhh not seen that one on my radar before but have just found The Fiery Priest with Kim Nam-gil, on Netflix. Not sure how I missed it maybe because I kept looking on Viki. Been wanting to see it for a while. Could do with a really nice sappy romance though, so off to peruse the list.

Lee Jung Eun is magnificent in the pharmacy scene in DDOS. 💪 I enjoyed the nod to Jurassic Park too. 😄

I have to reiterate - was not expecting Castaway Diva to be such a sob fest 😭😭 I am two for two on crying in episodes so far.

We’ve just watched the first episode of Strong Girl Nam Soon and we very much enjoyed it. Hope it continues like this.

We've just started the Yet to Come concert film on prime - very different to PTD since it was a free show but enjoying... other than J-Hope's blond streaked mullet 🙈🙈

AmVa YTC is going to be the carrot that finally gets me to subscribe to ANOTHER streaming service. I NEEEEEED access to that concert. Cypher part 3. CYPHER PART 3 😳As some of you may remember 😁 I saw it three 3 times in 5 days when it was in the cinemas. Plus I have Taecyeon And His Ears vampire FOMO 🤔

Just finished ep7 of DDOS
Think I need a break as it was relentlessly sad. Will finish it but need something uplifting before I turn in for the night

I've just watched episode 6 Aesops I'm not sure I can bear to watch episode 7 😭

Episode 7 was so sad, in a way I wasn't expecting! 😭

It continues much darker and chewier than you might expect but ends well.

I'm a bit full of cold so it's unchallenging CDrama time and found a racing car one which is ticking boxes nicely.
Intrigued to find FL is big nosed Alice Ke -my fave Taiwanese actress, and wondering what the politics are around her being in state broadcast Chinese drama. Also go her because she is 38 and her ML costar in this is 25. Filthy noona Power 💪 (although the first episode title of 'I want to find your helmet' was more dully literal than I hoped...)
