Ok, so we're about to be told off again about our drinking habits.

But check out the 52 year old woman in this
(sorry DM) piece. Can you believe how she's going to look in another 25 years time?! Well, er 77 actually. So what? Fgs Except in one 'picture' she looks like she's been dragged through a hedge.

i think the message has got lost somewhat

drinking wine excessively, is as bad as drinking cheap cider or binge drinking

drinking excessively every day, even if you don;t get drunk per se, is bad for you

and that is important

southeastastra · 03/03/2008 11:52

one to watch hiding behind a pillow for me

Piffle · 03/03/2008 11:57

my mother never drinks. She is 63 and looks 75. Vanity will not curb drinking ffs! I have stopped and changed for health alone. And for ££££ reasons too!

charliecat · 03/03/2008 20:27

anyone watching?

iamdingdong · 03/03/2008 20:28

I watched it, whilst drinking J2O, which is not normal behaviour for me!

southeastastra · 03/03/2008 20:29

no i'm watching mastermind instead

charliecat · 03/03/2008 20:30

I watched it with the arse end of last nights wine

Finbar · 03/03/2008 20:30

Yes - several quotes to camera from someone from some organisation called Netmums????

expatinscotland · 03/03/2008 20:32

Missed this and now DH is watching that stupid 'Fifth Gear'.

Oh, well, I can't drink anyhow as pregnant but as this one has to go on the tit for as long as possible for £££ reasons, and then I'll have charge of 3 little kids, I think my partying days are pretty much over.

dosydot · 03/03/2008 20:32

Chose not to - I saw a clip and the children really irritated me in how they spoke to their parents, plus I am a mum who drinks every night so avoided it - Was it any good, or only watched by those who already abstain??

expatinscotland · 03/03/2008 20:33

Nothing wrong with drinking every night, IMO.

So long as it's moderate and you can completely control it.

iamdingdong · 03/03/2008 20:38

dosydot it was ok, a bit irritating and not really shocking enough to put anyone off

dosydot · 03/03/2008 20:40

Glad I stayed on here with my nightly glass of vino then

Piffle · 03/03/2008 21:10

I watched it from the sanctimonious high horse that only a recent successful abstainer can mount upon [smug]
expat... When was this announced my dear? Many congratulations. Trust me 3 kids... You'll need drink like you never knew you could !!! On the tit or not. I'm still bf and have been far from tee total ever since ds2 started sleeping many hours at once.
The control issue is key. I used to be fine but then got to needing it and bang time to stop! So I did.

expatinscotland · 03/03/2008 21:26

We'll see what happens with this one, Piffle. Due 1 November.

Funds will be low after this one comes along, so for sure that will put the breaks on any boozing I do!

Not to mention, old age .

sandyballs · 04/03/2008 10:10

How much were these mums drinking per night then? I didn't see it but a friend sent me a text saying it was sad to watch and she felt sorry for the children. But this friend has no children, so perhaps she doesn't quite understand the pull towards the bottle at 7.00pm .

Cappuccino · 04/03/2008 10:12

she will have a better haircut and a different jumper because of not drinking?

Ledodgy · 04/03/2008 10:15

I watched it and it made me wish I had a glass of wine. They did drink alot though one drank a bottle a night and a bit more on weekends. Now I can drink a bottle in a night but not every night surely you'd feel rough all the time.

Peachy · 04/03/2008 10:23

Barely drink even when not PG (and am that stage where it feels I have been pg for ever....) but that's because of cost more than anything else- even the SU bar is expensive these days!

But having sat through a lecture by a chap who makes documentaries for the BBC yesterday and hearing his opinions on trevor McDonald and the dumbed down school of documentaries I will confess I skipped and read a book.

Though will have forgotten his advice in time for holby tonight LOL

posieflump · 04/03/2008 10:25

I drink a couple of glasses of wine a night, sometimes a bit more
I do worry about the state of my liver sometimes but never what I will look like in 25 years. I might be dead by then!

TsarChasm · 04/03/2008 10:27

It was interesting enough but at the end they just said 'well that's it we're all going to give up and just have a couple of glasses at the weekends from now on.'

I would think in a couple of cases there that would be easier said than done?
