Yah. Another drama to start fri next week - 2 episodes a week for 3w

The Reunion is an intense drama series that has everything, from the mysterious disappearance of a French student, to a gruesome murder and the destructive power of a decades-old obsession, all set against the stunning backdrop of the French Riviera.

The Reunion is a six-part series that will be shown in weekly double episodes on ITV1 from Friday August 4 at 9pm and 10pm. The drama has already been shown on ITVX from Thursday 12 January 2023

The Reunion tells the story of beguiling French student Vinca Rockwell who went missing one night in mysterious circumstances after discovering she was pregnant. Now, 25 years later, her three former friends reconnect at their school reunion in the French Riviera, including novelist Thomas Degalais (Ioan Gruffudd), who was obsessed with Vinca and returns to France determined to find out why she vanished.

But it transpires that the three friends remain bound together by some twisted secrets of that fateful night and, as the story unfolds, it’s revealed that Thomas and his friend Maxime are connected to a violent murder related to Vinca’s 1997 disappearance that could destroy everything.

"Thomas is still obsessed with Vinca, he can’t let her go," says Ioan Gruffudd. ‘The only way he can get some finality is by going back and when he gets this invitation he can’t help himself. He wants to come back and try to piece together what happened. It’s also revealed that there has also been a murder in the past, which Thomas and his friends were directly involved in!"

Ioan says: "Thomas left the South of France, where he studied at the International School in the early 1990s, in order to become a novelist. But, against his better judgement, he returns for this high-school reunion because he’s still obsessed with Vinca Rockwell, the girl he was in love with back then. She disappeared one night and he decides to come back to try and piece together that mystery. At the same time, it’s revealed that there has also been a murder in the past, which Thomas and his friends were directly involved in. So when he returns to the South of France, that catches up with him and the whole mystery starts to unravel."

I didn’t dislike but it was all very far fetched.

I couldn’t deal with Graves & Dervla being Ioan’s parents.

butterpuffed · 03/09/2023 13:39

Well, not sure what to say about the final episode, far fetched is an understatement ! Too far fetched to be enjoyable .

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/09/2023 18:10

Ok. I've watched and think I've got it

Thomas killed clement as thought he and got Vinca preg and dumped her but he hadn't even touched her

Annabelle covered / cleaned it up as loved her son and didn't want his life ruined

So fanny thought she has poisoned vinca

Where as Thomas mum annabelle killed her due to the affair /photos /baby /not wanting to hurt Thomas as was seeing her husband /his dad

But he wasn't Thomas dad and other bloke Francis (max dad) was dad and her secret lover

Annabelle knew that fanny hadn't killed vinca but pretended she had as she had killed her

Francis as loved annabelle and helped cover up the death

Where as vinca was having an affair with the teacher alexis who made her sleep with the dad (but not his dad) to blackmail

Tho at the end did Thomas imagine she didn't die and taxi driver was vinca

Tho as they found a body buried. It can't have happened and Vinca was dead

I'm still none the wiser but thank god I don't have to watch any more of this. I just didn't like it.

I liked it @LittleMonks11

Vinca may not be dead because when Francis was about to bury her , he noticed she 'stirred' . We didn't see how he dealt with it . If she's still alive it could be her driving the taxi ....... or her daughter ....🤔

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/09/2023 10:23

But if she stirred he wouldn't be saying he killed her

Oh, I must've missed that ! First of all Fanny thought she killed her , then Annabelle thought she had killed her , it all became very confusing ..

Fanny drugged her

Annabelle walloped her
Over the head due to affair /baby etx

But then Fanny dashes in and said she killed her so Annabelle let's her think she did

I couldn’t deal with Graves & Dervla being Ioan’s parents

Agreed. This was genuinely ridiculous.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/09/2023 13:58

Tho graves did kinda look like him I thought

I think they've left it wide open for another series and I think they want us to think Vinca's alive

purpleme12 · 04/09/2023 23:06

It was quite cheesy

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/09/2023 13:49

Hi read somewhere that Pauline might be her daughter

I turned off at this point. Ridiculous casting for a ridiculous series.

Timeforachange67 · 11/09/2023 20:59

Just finished watching-feel like 6 hours I won’t get back! Very convoluted and don’t think I gave it my full attention. Don’t think I’d bother with season 2 if there was one

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2023 21:37

You didn't like then @Timeforachange67

😂😂😂 just found it all a bit unbelievable I think! It was all very glossy but I didn’t think the acting was great tbh

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/09/2023 11:51

Well everyone else thought they had killer someone

I finally finished this today. I thought it was a bit of a mess (still no idea about the sub plot with the Russians) but I was intrigued enough to want to know how it ended. I guessed that Annabelle (Thomas mum) killed Vinca and I'm quite gullible and never usually work it out!

The one thing I'm not sure about and can't be bothered to rewind to check the relevant bits is about the body/bodies in the gym. So knowing what we know now, Thomas and Max killed Clemente and hid body in the gym basement. Unbeknownst to them Annabelle also killed Vinca and Francis hid body in the wall of the gym.

Present day the gym starts to be demolished and one body is discovered (Clemente) and the police start investigating. But I don't think the second body (Vinca) is discovered. Is that right? If so, why? I can only guess because it's not there.

There was a scene which I was only half watching (distracted) which seemed to show Francis paying off some dodgy associates to dispose of some skeletal remains. Was this unrelated or did it infer that Francis removed the second body before it could be found?

Then there's the alternative ending in Thomas ' imagination that Vinca survived and Francis didn't bury her and she is either still alive and driving the taxi or survived and had her baby who turned out to be Pauline (driving the taxi). Thomas would not know about Francis and the skeletal remains although that explanation would be more plausible than his daydream.

In the other hand in tv series when there's no body it does tend to mean the character turns up alive at the end!

purpleme12 · 20/09/2023 00:01

I think they wanted us to believe she was alive.
