Nooo definitely not! More like 14-15+.

Newnamenewname109870 · 20/07/2023 20:37

I wouldn’t personally

Approaching · 20/07/2023 20:38

No…especially not the first episode!

ReeseWitherfork · 20/07/2023 20:38

They might find all the sex a bit awkward with their parents. And lots of swearing. But I don’t think it’s too bad, they’d probably find all the comedy around the sex quite funny… like the bit where Stacey is unemployed and says she spent all day masterbating!

Justcallmebebes · 20/07/2023 20:39

No.

Twilight7777 · 20/07/2023 20:40

i wouldn’t have thought so no, there’s a few sex scenes plus direct references to sex

Peekingovertheparapet · 20/07/2023 20:42

I think it would be mortifying for everyone involved.

im a big Gavin & Stacey fan but the first season has aged hugely as it was filmed before the smoking ban, then there is the whole big brush up Smithy’s arse chatter, and the awkward family breakfast while Gavin and Stacey have loud sex upstairs.

it’s very funny but I don’t think it’s family viewing.

Yes! Mortifying more than anything else!

Oh god yes! I'd forgotten how rude is. Thanks all. Think we will definitely leave it for a few more years!

Yes. You may have to explain its of its time, though.

FMLWTF · 21/07/2023 15:47

And the scene in the pub where the parents friends (can’t remember their names) are meeting with the guy who’s going to join them in a threesome. (And Mick doesn’t realise and sits down for a good chat with the three of them) 😂

yeah, don’t watch with your kids!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/07/2023 15:52

We re-watched it a little while ago. I wouldn't watch with my 15 year old (as it'd be mortifying).

ReviewingTheSituation · 21/07/2023 15:57

No! For all the reasons above, and I'll add in Pam talking about role-playing as Camilla & Charles (even less appropriate now than it was then!), and all the goings on at G&S's wedding.

The vast majority of it would be fine, but all the bits mentioned here would definitely not be.

Still one of the best things on TV though.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/07/2023 15:57

Friday Night Dinner might be more suitable.

TennisWithDeborah · 23/07/2023 11:54

It’s brilliant but not family-together viewing. You’d all be cringing.

I don’t think I’d necessarily have a problem with their watching it without me at 11 and older, though. The only really off-colour thing for me is Smithy’s (unseen) girlfriend being a schoolgirl. The sex and masturbation stuff is just funny.

Maybe the drugs stuff with Dave Coaches who explains to Nessa that he “draws the line at crack”. But again, that’s just silly and amusing.

I don’t recall racism or homophobia (it’s a while since I watched). There’s some bantery anti-English and anti-Welsh stuff of course but it was harmless.
