Taking me right back. I remember dancing to Club Tropicana in a club called Club Tropicana in Malgrat on Spain in 1984 and thinking I was the bees knees!

NooNakedJacuzziness · 17/06/2023 21:46

The 80s were magic (music wise anyway). I love George

frogssnailandpuppydogtails · 17/06/2023 22:06

💔 Oh the nostalgia .

Checkyourpocketsnow · 17/06/2023 22:27

I saw him in Wham! at the Lyceum in London in 1983. Yes, there were shuttlecocks! I don't think my teenage self appreciated what a huge talent he was. Can't believe I saw him live. I wish I could go back and really savour it.

Anjo2011 · 17/06/2023 22:31

He has such an amazing catalogue of music. When they showed the cover of ‘The Long and Winding Road’ he just owned it. Amazing talent and very much missed. So many classic moments in his career.

EachandEveryone · 17/06/2023 22:36

I know. I saw them when i was 15 and then him solo once was the free concert for nurses. Which he did twice. The whole of Wembley was packed full of nurses😃. I always preferred his more upbeat music tbh. That was probably my age as well.

I miss him being around too. Great songwriter and a
Great voice and one of the better celebs too.
I enjoyed the programme about him that was on tonight.

EachandEveryone · 17/06/2023 23:13

I saw him live 4 times, wish it had been more.

And such a lovely person where the stories that came out after his death were about his kindness and generosity.

Sounds twee, but his music has been the soundtrack to my adult life.

frogssnailandpuppydogtails · 18/06/2023 00:00

George was a good person .

viques · 18/06/2023 00:10

Feeling good, shivers down my spine. Saw Nina Simone sing this years back, she was as drunk as a coot and an hour late to the stage but it was electrifying.

I wonder how GM would have matured as a performer, I think he would have been on a par with the greats. He had a gift from the gods.

Fushia123 · 18/06/2023 00:12

I’ve loved both programmes tonight. His voice is just beautiful.

EachandEveryone · 18/06/2023 00:15

I know and he looked so well in 2012. Its just so sad the whole thing.

I've been a big fan of George since I was 12- he was my first ever crush and I don't think I've ever got over that. I saw him live in 2007 and he was amazing. Never imagined he'd be dead 9 years later. So warm and humble and always interacted with the audience. I think there's a lot we don't know about him though and he was never destined to be an old crooner.

MackenCheese · 18/06/2023 10:17

Yes, well I would have enjoyed it, if my abusive teenage son hadn't marched in and switched the tv off and precipitated world war 3. I'm still funing....I'll have to watch it in secret on catch up. As usual ....😟

mrswhiplington · 19/06/2023 15:02

I was listening to George this morning in my car. On CD.😃I've got a very old car. They are the only CDs I have left apart from a couple of random artists. Could never get rid of them.

xsquared · 22/06/2023 20:58

Love George Michael and his beautiful voice. I cannot name anyone in today's music industry of the same calibre.

I didn't realise Simon Climie, of "Love changes everything", co-wrote "I knew you were waiting".

Hoppinggreen · 22/06/2023 21:00

So talented and sounds like he was a genuinely good person too.
I was at the Farewell concert at Wembley, it was 1983 I think? Still remember it so clearly

Thereoughttobeclowns · 22/06/2023 21:06

I wasn’t a fan, so I don’t miss him.

Having said that, I LOVED when he covered Somebody to Love, whenever that was. And the album that is from the early 90s (that I can’t remember the name of) is the soundtrack to my uni years and bombing around Exeter with it blaring in my car on CASSETTE. <gets zimmer frame>

Kaftanesque · 22/06/2023 21:40

What a voice. What a talent. And such a lovely person.I'm feeling sad tonight because my mum is very old and frail. The Long and Winding road has just made me cry.

Calzonepizza · 22/06/2023 21:49

So missed such an altruistic man without the need to broadcast it

DustyLee123 · 22/06/2023 21:52

Gorgeous, lovely, talented man. I saw them at Birmingham in their Choose Life T-shirts.

DustyLee123 · 22/06/2023 21:54

He was my first love, and I’ve still got my teddy that’s named after him.
Unfortunately I jumped ship when A-ha came along.

Brintons · 22/06/2023 23:05

I live in the village where he lived (and died). There are a few events here this weekend to mark his 60th. I never saw him in the village but always looked out for him when I walked past his house.
