Torchwood - what are the "Weevils"?

Having got the children off to school - my burning questions of the morning.
Have missed a couple of episodes and whole chunks of last season.
Were they called "Weevils"?
Why do they wear matching black overalls - the B&Q apparel of choice for aliens?
Why do they sleep in a church? Last time I was home every church not used for services was either an art gallery or children's play centre. Does no one notice them?
I liked Martha much more in this. Her doe-eyed pining over The Doctor was v annoying imo - though that might have just been envy on my part.

That episode was a classic example of 'quantum plotting' - that is, the more you look at the plot, the less you can be sure it made any sense at all.

Weevils are the odd stock alien that are in the underbelly of Cardiff. They are sort of murderous pests, and they have been used for violent purposes, like pitbulls. They seem to function on a very instinct based level, and they apparently cower before people with black contact lenses.

I have no idea why they were in a random church, with lots of cannibalized dolls and a resurrection gauntlet that Jack apparently knew about but had neglected to mention before. (Is it me or is he looking a bit 'startled' lately, with the 'work' he's had done round the eyes?)

And I do love the way the baddie was despatched by drunken waltzing. I shall remember that for future reference.

Thanks SueB - admit I've just looked it up! On the BBC site I was blocked by a snotty "rights reasons" message as am not in the UK. No access, never seen that before.

Was rather contorted re glove, the church, the hospital - thought it would be a dream when Jack woke up in the jeep - etc. but loved it. Stayed up far too late (midnight here) watching the BBC3 episode and shall dust off some old videos from my pre-satellite TV days so I can tape episodes.
Agree about eyes, he looked v tired.
Loved the 'dabbling' - 'avant garde' and was it 'innovative'?
