Anyone watching this? Inhave watched one episode enjoying it so far.

OP posts:

I've watched them all, mostly because I'm a greys anatomy fan and wanted to hear Kevin McKidd's Scottish accent since I'm Scottish too. Also the main female character is in the old Waterloo road episodes that I'm currently rewatching on iPlayer which was a coincidence. I'm thinking the acting isn't the best I've ever seen though...

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 06/04/2023 21:14

I started it last night but it seemed to start in the middle? In fact I rewound the 1st 15 mins as i thought I'd missed a big chunk!

TheSproutOfWrath · 07/04/2023 20:46

Binge watched it on STV this week. Loved it.

Xrays · 07/04/2023 20:47

I got up to episode 3 and gave up. Couldn’t get into it at all.

RoyGBivisacolorfulman · 07/04/2023 21:19

I liked it but didn't feel the ending was enough.
Clearly left it for another season.

IwantToRetire · 11/04/2023 18:28

I started watching it last night, even though I vowed never to use ITVx again because of their impossibly long ad breaks.

I think the problem is if you are someone like me who watches too many crime dramas, its quite hard to then have one that seems different or better.

I am interested in the plot and want to know what happens, but I am not that engaged in it, unlike for instance Blue Lights.

But I wouldn't be able to say what it is that makes the difference.

Interesting cast, and as I love cities, interesting to have so many playing a part in one series.

Also, thanks for the thread as I would not have known about it, and ended up watching something really awful out of desparation!

midsomermurderess · 11/04/2023 18:54

I have found it quite plodding. It doesn’t really have much spark.

See I preferred it to blue lights.

Also think I have watched all of the crime dramas going.

I did enjoy it, just not a satisfying ending.
Blue lights was ok jusy not a s gripping for me.

IwantToRetire · 11/04/2023 21:45

I do appreciate not everyone likes the same things.

I see them in groups - plain silly like Midsummer Murders, Death in Paradise

9pm fillers - any number of crime dramas such as the Bay, which pad out the 9pm slot on the main channels, of which I would say Six Four is one.

And then the more intriguing series, such as Spiral, the Wire, Happy Valley (and Endeavour?).

Blue Lights is somewhere at the top end of the 9pm fillers, but may become an intriguing series.

But haven't finished this one yet so who knows!

Yes I think I would actually agree with that summary.

IwantToRetire · 12/04/2023 16:51

I finished this last night, and thought I must have missed an episode as all sorts of "facts" were mentioned that I dont remember being discovered.

But in the end I was disappointed as the whole thing became more and more implausible. The cover up, the Minister being an undercover agent for the english to under mine independence.

And the role played by Vinette Robinson was just daft and in the end quite slight. Not sure why they did all the London scenes. Just seemed like padding out, although did give her another change to show her combat skills. Could all have been covered by an admittedly difficult conversation.

I just thought it was all a bit muddled.

@IwantToRetire

Have you seen the copy cat killer on Netflix?

IwantToRetire · 13/04/2023 16:20

I dont have Netflix, so realise I miss quite a few things. But also I've got to the stage in my life where I like police procedurals, or even phsycological thrillers, but have no time for gory glorification!

In fact I started a thread about trying to find actual SF tv series rather than what turn out to be fanatasy or just horror.

Through this thread (very useful) I am going to take the opportunity to join Disney+ for 3 months reduced through Tesco clubcard(!!!) for recommended SF series.

So in any one knows of any good crime dramas on Disney+ that would be great.

Theres only murders in the building. That I would put in your first cat though with Midsomer murders. Entertaining though.

The Boston strangler is on my list.

The killing is on there but you have probably seen that.

I really enjoyed Candy and its based on a true story.

Big sky first series ok
But couldn't get into second.

Apparently the chippendales has a crime element but again not watched.
