I actually LIKE the house!! Did you see that wall of books... heaven!

OP posts:
Sunshinemummy · 13/02/2008 21:59

Inside I like it. From a distance it looks like a huge garage.

hoxtonchick · 13/02/2008 22:00

it's the most sensible for a few weeks. i think it would be a nice house to live in.

Piffle · 13/02/2008 22:00

yeah but she said ... I don't want to live in a mock Tudor house. So why the fuck is she dressed like henry the VIII huh

noddyholder · 13/02/2008 22:00

lovely and they are lovely too

Carmenere · 13/02/2008 22:00

I love it.

TillyScoutsmum · 13/02/2008 22:00

Just wondering where the GD thread was. I love the house... a "glass box" that still looks like a home

And who'd have thought someone called Prudence would swear so much. I love her

KatyMac · 13/02/2008 22:01

Missed it - is it on again?

Sunshinemummy · 13/02/2008 22:02

I think they're a sweet couple. Liked that they built the cottage to give their disabled son some independence.

House looks v. comfy inside, which is not normally the way with modernist houses.

TripleyTigger · 13/02/2008 22:07

Nope, not this week its the only house that I haven't liked or found something to like in it.
The staircase looked like one I have seen in an office block.
And the corridors looked too industrial.

The only thing I liked were the views......before the house

sweetkitty · 13/02/2008 22:09

Inside lovely that drawing room was divine.

Outside - yuck

They were such a lovely eccentric couple though.

Botbot · 13/02/2008 22:09

I love it too. They were a cool, quirky couple too.

With a bit of luck normal service will be resumed next week and they'll have some more fuckwits we can slag off

hippipotami · 13/02/2008 22:11

I looked for a thread on this, almost started one and then panicked in case there was one and I had missed it...

I love love loved tonight's couple. What a fab, eccentric, funny couple! Not too enamoured with the house, but Prudence had great entertainment value

LadyOfWaffle · 13/02/2008 22:11

Missed the end where they showed the finished building, but saw that study wow... I just wanted to grab a book and curl up next to that fire on the sofa. Not bad for just over £400,000 (not that I could afford that!)

hatwoman · 13/02/2008 22:11

loved it - mainly because it looked ike a home, you know, somewhere where you live. Pru said it herself - a house isn;t your life, doesn;t change your life. it's somewhere for you to carry out your life (or something like that) and they seemed like nice people. such a contrast with the couple who had to throw half their possessions away because they wouldn't "go" .

hat resolves to stop thinking about her house and just to amass nice things with significance and memories. becuase it'll all come together into something amazing.

minko · 14/02/2008 11:33

Love how they had to reinforce the staricase. I'm not suprised it was shaking with those two thundering up and down...

SheherazadetheGoat · 14/02/2008 12:57

i really liked them. house i liked bits off. thought the builder was hilarious should have had more of him. also wasn't it hilarious that they had to wheel the neighbour out cos nothing was going wrong and ever the neighbour said 'well its abit big but will probably look quite nice eventually'

SheherazadetheGoat · 14/02/2008 12:57

oh and i thought up a new phrase that really upsets dh 'they must be shitting money'

southeastastra · 14/02/2008 13:07

they were a weird couple, i wouldn't trust any man that wore those comedy trousers and braces.

house was an eyesore, she was a very odd shape.

expatinscotland · 14/02/2008 13:10

I thought it was a fugly house that was a huge monstrosity and looked like an office building.

I found her voice more grating than fingernails scraping across the chalkboard.

Loved the study and the wall of books..but it looked cold,I don't think there was a door from the study to the hallway..

Thought it could have been so so much nicer and also reflected the lime kilns more in its design, whilst still having a more modern twist..

Seemed very dark for such a lot of glass walls..

bratnav · 14/02/2008 13:33

I thought the drawing room was to die for, and the kitchen/dining area. Not wild about the outside, but I adored the couple, they seemed lovely and slightly eccentric. Also thought it was very sweet that the builders let the son help, he seemed so pleased with himself.

He runs a design company, she's a food writer, apparently.

sphil · 14/02/2008 23:32

I thought they were lovely. Dh and I were glued as we've had similar discussions about providing DS2, who's autistic, with some sort of semi-independent accommodation linked to us when he's older, if he can manage it. The house we've just bought has a garage and extension that we could adapt if needed. And our sons have the same name!!!!
