Bracing myself for the dinner party tonight!

OP posts:
DoTrollsShitInTheThreads · 04/04/2023 08:35

I'm starting to feel uncomfortable with Claire's self flagellation.

Groutyonehereagain · 03/04/2023 23:57

I completely agree. He’s so shifty, I can’t stand him. I hate Harrison more though.

Oh I hate Harrison with a passion! The guy makes me want to kick my tv screen!

I liked Dan initially. And then his response to Harrison making those claims about him getting a woman’s number (when it was Harrison), didn’t quite sit right with me. He didn’t really seem annoyed enough that Harrison had almost ruined his relationship with Sandy. Was a little too calm about it.

Even if he’s not into Sandy, someone accusing you of doing things you weren’t, lying and throwing you under the bus to protect themselves would incite real anger in most people. Dan seemed quite calm about it all and didn’t really pull Harrison up much for it 🤔

Stugs · 04/04/2023 08:47

I quite like Harrison! He's entertaining at least and Bronte seems totally on board with being in it for the grift.

Agree Claires self flagellation is uncomfortable to watch now. Have we forgotten quite how awful Jesse was to her at the beginning ??

Prinnny · 04/04/2023 08:54

I can’t work out if Harrison was trying (and failing) to be sincere or just fully taking the piss. He’s either a plant or put in for the entertainment value, the ratio of genuine contestants versus reality wannabes is massively off this season.

Agree Cam seems checked out, if Duncan has any sense he should follow suite as Alyssa is batshit! Dan gives me weird vibes too, seems to sit and smile and be impartial but I think it’s a front. Tayla is vile, a pretty girl rendered very ugly by her personality. I’m not surprised Claire write stay, I hope the girls drop it now, she’s apologised let’s not keep on with it.

Paul2023 · 04/04/2023 09:31

Claire apologised and admitted to her mistake. However , let’s go back to that night when Jesse worked out what happened.
Her and Adam both denied kissing, Claire even allowed Jesse to apologise to Adam in front of the group. The guy must have felt pretty humiliated.
When Jesse was clearly convinced about what Claire and done, she made him out to be imagining it and that it was all inside his head.

Claire was like a ten year child who had broken an ornament at home and would vigorously deny it was her.

Claire kissing Adam early on during a drunken night out can be forgiven, but the lies and allowing Jesse to be made out to be a jealous and overbearing husband can’t be.

I wouldn’t blame Jesse for never trusting Claire again.

Paul2023 · 04/04/2023 09:33

I don’t think Brontë nor Harrison really like each other in that way, they both want air time on tv.
Stay in as long as they can for social media followers.

Stugs · 04/04/2023 09:34

Jesse was an absolute bellend to Claire on the honeymoon and I don't blame her for getting pissed on the night out. Adam was a rotter as he was getting on well with Janelle at the time.

Exactly which is why I don't hate Harrison. They've clearly come to an arrangement that both are happy with.

Deathraystare · 04/04/2023 09:45

I think Tayla should have been booted off for her make up application alone! It offended me! I have an excuse, bad eyesight! I reckon she was encouraged to be the 'bad guy'.

I had not seen much of Dan snd Sandy but he had the same mean face as Harrison. Poor Sandy. I bet her family give her shit!

Rupert was certainly hard work and Ecrlyn did try her best with him.

The woman who kept running off crying needs to grow up. What an example for her kid!

Cameron was a waste of space.

Wish Adam,'s wife had been stronger at the dinner table and really gone for him.

Harrison was interesting! One minute toxic male then next minute telling Adam off! I think he was really enjoying himself!!!!

MelsMoneyTree · 04/04/2023 10:47

I'm disappointed in Claire for not writing leave. Her apologies were genuine but keeping them both there for another week smacks of not wanting to leave as the cheating 'wife'. She's kidding herself that it's about Jesse.
Cam is an arse. It's funny how some of them can be 'nice' for about two weeks but then the masks start to slip. Even when the expert told him to give her a hug, he still didn't do it. He's either contrary (no-one tells me what to do) or sexist (no woman tells me what to do).
Harrison is laughable but the experts should put him out. They need to get better at spotting the grifters.
The new couples are awful. They should put Hugo with Evelyn, and send Tayla and Rupert home.
I've just realised if I ran this show, they'd end up with about half the number of couples Grin Alyssa annoys me but on balance I'll put up with her just so I can watch Duncan for another few weeks!

I work in tv. It's worth bearing in mind that all the stay/leave decisions, which questions are asked by the experts, what is called out etc will be decided/influenced by the production staff. It isn't an experiment as they say, it's a tv show. They need the entertaining and divisive characters to stay.

MiddleAgedAndExhausted · 04/04/2023 11:15

They ultimately have a duty of care to the participants, but also they need protect the image of the programme

Well of course. If it was entirely the participants choice they could potentially all write leave in week 1 or 2 or 3 and leave them with no show at all to fill the remaining 3 months.

MagpiePi · 04/04/2023 11:20

I think Dan is total creep underneath. He hangs around with Harrison, and his racist friends/family at the wedding, (the woman who had her boobs practically hanging out of the side of her dress!) shows you the kind of person he really is.
I think he was expecting someone like Bronte or Melinda(?) - all trout pout and flicky hair, not a 'foreign' virgin with a personality.

MelsMoneyTree · 04/04/2023 11:28

The original format was much better. It's a choice to make it trashy and full of wannabes. I don't think it's a positive one. Not least because there are enough shitty relationship role models on TV. Although to be fair, Pob is trying harder to call them out this series. I really hope they all have rethink and decide to back away from becoming a Love Island in the city show.

MiddleAgedAndExhausted · 04/04/2023 11:36

Stugs · 04/04/2023 11:17

I didn't mean to imply that other wouldn't - just reinforce to those who questioned why Claire etc would choose to stay - that everything is orchestrated. It's very like The Only Way is Essex etc in terms of how it's produced.

dapsnotplimsolls · 04/04/2023 12:05

Harrison is an arse but very entertaining - I hope he stays in for as long as possible! Now Bronte has just decided to surrender for the SM attention afterwards, I don't think he can really bother her.

lostinfusion · 04/04/2023 14:25

I actually quite like Jesse, am behind at the moment so will catch up before reading some of this thread

HairyMcHairyFace · 04/04/2023 14:35

browneyes77 · 03/04/2023 23:42

No, the not being a decent guy vibe.

I just don’t think he’s the nice guy he makes himself out to be. I think we’ll end up finding out he’s been up to all sorts. There’s something about him. I just don’t trust him.

I’ve had this feeling about him for the last week or so.

I agree. He reminds me of posh country boy from the last UK series who was always going on about all the hearts he had to protect. He had a nice bloke veneer but you could see the anger bubbling underneath then afterwards it came out that the police had been involved because of his behaviour towards his ex.

I liked it when they had real people on there. The UK one is a bit better for that (though I suspect the new series will have a more Love Island feel).

MelsMoneyTree · 04/04/2023 14:55

Yy and when they just went about their ordinary lives without all these contrived dinner parties every week.

murasaki · 04/04/2023 15:18

To be fair to Pob, he is calling it where he sees it.

Newyeardietstartstomorrow · 04/04/2023 16:42

There is a familiar mean girl vibe going through the coven of pretty blonde brides again this year. Lots of face pulling, eye rolling.

Newyeardietstartstomorrow · 04/04/2023 16:44

Harrison and Tayla would be a good match, both as thick as 2 short planks with God's gift delusions. Cam's smirk though suggests he has his eyes on her.
