@LIZS I know Sad

Londonnight · 17/03/2023 05:47

I found this weeks episode really emotional, especially Craig and Brooklyn. They are so close, I can't imagine going through what they have been through.

It really chocked me when Craig said they still sleep together as they can't bear to be apart.

LaRitournelle · 17/03/2023 07:08

No idea how I missed this thread as I came looking for one after the first episode!

I've been really enjoying it (whilst holding back tears for most of each episode!) the work the consultants do is phenomenal, they deserve every penny they earn. I always knew they did long hours but wow the stress they have before even getting a patient to the operating table, some of the surgeries haven't started until the evening when the consultant will have been in first thing.

Agree the double hand transplant was incredible I would love an update on how he is getting on, all whilst being a single dad to twins! The lady with the pin in her leg broke it 50 years ago and to do a hip replacement they have to shave some of your thigh bone down which is why it needed to be removed, I thought straight away that's never going to come out.

I live near Leeds and didn't remember hearing about such a bad car accident happening so I did a bit of Googling about Craig and Brooklyn, disgustingly when they were both discharged from hospital they got home to find their house had been burgled Angry. What an awful awful situation, I lost it when Craig broke down as Brooklyn went to surgery.

CosyCoffee · 17/03/2023 10:38

Craig and Brooklyn broke my heart. It really put my problems into perspective.

Bloody hell that poor little boy and dad who lost all their family in the crash ☹️☹️☹️

Is the latest episode on IPlayer yet? Can't find it.

purpleme12 · 19/03/2023 21:08

I watched it on iPlayer yesterday

Found it. That poor family. How on earth have they found the strength to go on.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 22/03/2023 22:05

What a great programme.
Terrible outcome for Trevor.
Rest in peace.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/03/2023 22:10

Indeed. Poor chap.

I don't recall another documentary like this showing the problems with beds. What a waste of the consultants' time to be having to haggle for beds for their patients.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2023 22:21

The hospital program also on BBC is practically identical. And has bed issues in every episode. Makes me think that the system my Hospital is actually working quite well. Though we hated it at first. Cancellations are now rare. Having said that there is little leeway. If patients recover slower than expected it dies screw things up a bit.

Wombatbum · 25/03/2023 21:42

Just watched the episode about Brooklyn, can’t stop thinking about him and his dad

It wasn't a straw, it was oxygen tubing. I had to laugh at that!

purpleme12 · 25/03/2023 23:11

Oh ok I thought it was a special straw!

I trained and worked with a lot of the people on this program, particularly the orthopaedic surgeons and theatre teams - all amazing people, I think they all come across really well, and just as I remember them all - brings back good memories!

Very weird watching people you know on TV though!

WimbourneWasps · 26/03/2023 21:47

@FixTheBone it's even weirder seeing yourself in the background!!! Thank god for masks 😂

Toddlerteaplease · 26/03/2023 22:30

@FixTheBone I agree. We had Hospital filmed in my hospital and on my ward. It was really strange. And someone I knew was on the opening credits. Still not quite lived down my appearance on it. 🫣

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 30/03/2023 09:52

I really enjoy hearing the decision-making and thinking behind order of priorities.
The hand surgeon (minus a finger himself) is so lovely. I hope that young girl has a good outcome.

longtompot · 30/03/2023 11:13

It is a good series, though very much like the Hospital series that was on previously.
It is incredible what surgeons can do. I too loved the surgeon having his cup of tea through the long straw/tube and how appreciative he was for it. It's a hell of a long time to sit working on one patient.

Spck · 30/03/2023 22:01

It’s a fabulous programme - we need to protect our NHS. The skills of the surgeons are awe inspiring.

fourhours · 30/03/2023 22:18

Just caught up on last nights episode and I'm in awe and tears after each one! At modern medicine, the dedication shown from the surgeons through such shit days and the skill and understanding from everyone involved.

I really really hate what has been allowed to happen to the NHS.
