A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our shows are on Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

The previous thread is here but our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. Wow that is some dark, dark stuff. That poor girl - Epstein level cover-up as well which makes you think it must just be the tip of the iceberg.

The mud pit fight in Singles Inferno is enough to give you abs of steel, you'll be holding in your breath so hard. It was gripping and I now have to wait a week for next episodes. 😢

It’s two part short drama (sponsored by Samsung) but story & acting is good. Main leads (both VI) met at a photography club. Unfortunately it’s not played by actual visually impaired actors.

That is Yoo YeonSeok and his rescue dog Rita Saram a relationship which is one of my YouTube obsessions. He loves her SO much (lays a whole new and entirely unnecessary floor for her by hand for instance) and most of the time she couldn't be less interested in him and it makes me laugh.

I started watching Island on Amazon prime last night - can recommend for anyone that likes supernatural shenanigans, no need to think too hard. Lee Da Hee with a fab wardrobe, brooding Kim Nam-gil as a demon slayer and Cha Eun Woo as the most distractingly gorgeous priest I've ever seen (and I've sat through a lot of mass).
