Anybody watching this? My god, shocking beyond belief to realise the depth and extent of harassment against women and even schoolgirls. It's no better now than in the 70s when I was a teenager. In some cases, even worse because we have the internet and online dating. The wanking video sent to the undercover reporter from a potential date was particularly gross.....

It's making me feel really anxious when she's out in the streets.

JaneJeffer · 12/12/2022 22:54

Both times "I'm a good man"

longtompot · 12/12/2022 23:05

Just watched it. It was shocking just how quickly she was approached in both places. So scary with the men working in teams as well.
I do wonder if the focus group at the end genuinely felt the things they said. I wonder if educational videos about how women feel when this sort of thing happens would help, but if it enlightens one man/boy to this then it would be a good thing.
The school girls and their experiences though, heartbreaking.

zeddybrek · 12/12/2022 23:13

That was difficult to watch at times. Especially scary as how many people were around her including the police and no one asked her if she was ok.

Monty27 · 12/12/2022 23:18

Altogether quite concerning it gave a really good insight to what women are having to put up with and even when sober let's not forget. It's a good wake-up call for everyone.

weirdstuffhappenig · 12/12/2022 23:29

It's awful and should be played in schools, I can't help feeling shocked about the fact one guy was doing it in plain sight, in front of the police!

allboysherebutme · 12/12/2022 23:36

It's amazing how these people pray on women, in a crowded public place and those two men together, I'd have really liked to see what they would have done, they were extremely dodgy. X

CuordiMela765 · 13/12/2022 00:01

Oh my goodness those schoolgirls ; that was hard to watch. What sort of society are we creating for our young women?

ScottishAngryBird · 13/12/2022 00:08

How do we ever stop men doing all that they do, all the sex offenders and so on, is it too much testosterone? What is the answer fgs.

N1C · 13/12/2022 00:57

Shocking that they only had to film twice to capture 3 + pre-meditated predators at work. I'm glad they could highlight these issues and men in the focus group seemed to agree that boys need to be taught about their responsibilities from a younger age.

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 13/12/2022 10:11

It was a difficult watch and I agree that it should be show in schools - to both boys and girls with robust discussion. It was depressing and annoying that these men behave like this.

Some men seem to think that all women are 'up for it' all the time with anyone who asks. We need to alter this way of thinking, but how?

VenusStarr · 13/12/2022 14:03

I've just watched this. Really upsetting in parts - I cried when the guy left the hotel room and she opened the bathroom door to the security guard. It's a very unsettling watch but so important.

The school girls and their experiences though, heartbreaking.

I haven't seen it, but at the request of someone on another forum, I signed the petition started here:

www.ourstreetsnow.org/

It must be getting on for four years ago now. I was absolutely shocked, the petition was started by two girls, 11 & 13, who routinely got sexual harassment on buses, trams and from blokes in cars.

For obvious reasons, not one woman on the forum was surprised.

Fellow men, we really don't know what our wives, daughters and sisters put up with daily.

longtompot · 13/12/2022 21:13

Thank you for the link @SinnerBoy I have just signed it and shared it

SinnerBoy · 14/12/2022 00:31

That's great, I thought that signatures had finished long ago.

Look, lads, don't rape drunk women. It really is that easy.

NeelyOHara1 · 14/12/2022 20:47

I watched this and am I the only one who noticed the foreign accent element of the perpetrators. Not saying by any means that it wouldn't happen with home grown men but possibly indicative of a cultural chasm of what constitutes acceptable behaviour? ducks

ThePoshUns · 14/12/2022 21:01

I noticed that @NeelyOHara, I don't think it was the voice distortion. It felt like the elephant in the room and wasn't addressed. I can understand why as could be deemed as racist but that suppresses genuine debate about an issue.

Flowerfairy101 · 14/12/2022 21:01

@NeelyOHara1 I noticed this. When I was a teen I was regularly taken advantage of and once almost raped by Eastern European men that used to ply us with drink then assume we were up for sex. Myself and a friend were also effectively groomed by a Nigerian man we met in a bus stop who then stalked us for weeks when we stopped talking to him. I have absolutely nothing against men from these countries but I do notice a difference in how they view and treat women on the whole, at least in my experience. I was in a relationship with a man from the Czech Republic for 5 years and he and his friends would happily seek out and take advantage of young drunk girls on a night out. They didn't see an issue with it and assumed the girls wanted sex or why would they get so drunk. It seems to just be a different mindset.

That might be the case for the ones they filmed for this programme, and I do wonder if there were others, but the person who has just be jailed for life with no parole before 38 years is very much from here

ThePoshUns · 14/12/2022 21:26

Yes majority of sex offenders are white British, but the documentary focused on 3 men with apparent foreign accents and then offered no comment on this.

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 15/12/2022 10:24

I noticed that too @NeelyOHara1 and it is very much the elephant in the room. I didn't comment on it for fear of being called a racist.

Plus, it is awful that when men behave like this it is just another 'f--k' to them whereas for the woman it is a horrible experience that she will never forget, which could have a profound effect on her emotional well-being for a very long time.

Yep. This all over. It is completely disingenuous to use this without examining culture and how women are viewed.
