Tokyo Vice starts on BBC1 tonight 22 November

About an American crime journalist getting a job in Tokyo and soon finds he's out of his depth.

I think this is new, although there was a really good crime series set between Japan and the UK which I never really understood but was engrossing (apart from the violence)

Really loved it and hope therr is another series. I thought Ansel Engort was extremely good in it.

I agree with this, I found this bit really interesting. And all the culture clashes.

I loved the ending. Thought it was really subtle/clever.

I loved it but didn't get the ending. Didn't it start with Jake getting himself into a situation that was never explained? He was supposed to go with someone (can't remember who) into a restaurant where they were supposed to be safe and then they were taken into a room where the safe person wasn't going to be. What was that all about?

I didn't really get the link with the beginning of the series. But then K frequently don't completely get crime stuff. What I took from the ending is that Yakusa guy had threatened Jake and Police guy into backing off so it looked all over (wasn't Jake thinking of going home too?), and at the end, Jake persuaded Police guy not to, setting up series 2.

Anyone watching the new series it's on iPlayer

I am but feel I should have watched the first series again in preparation.
