not sure what this is like. It is ch5 ๐Ÿ˜‚

saying that itโ€™s based on a book

Doctor Foster star Bertie Carvel plays the title role in Channel 5 and Acorn's new adaptation of PD Jamesโ€™ bestselling Inspector Dalgliesh books.
Set in the mid 1970s, Carvel (The Sister) plays the policeman and published poet Adam Dalgliesh, while the series is set against the picturesque backdrop of the English countryside

Beginning in the mid 1970s in England, the series follows Inspector Adam Dalgliesh, a reserved, enigmatic detective and widower who is still grieving his wife's death, and struggles to form new romantic attachments as a result.

According to a Channel 5 synopsis, the series "follows Dalglieshโ€™s career to present day as he solves unusual murders and reveals buried secrets," while each of the three murder mysteries "will offer its own unique setting and extraordinary cast".

The three stories to be adapted are โ€œShroud for a Nightingale,โ€ โ€œThe Black Tower," and โ€œA Taste for Death". The first, Shroud for a Nightingale, was published in 1971.

In Shroud for a Nightingale, the story focuses on the young women of Nightingale House, where they learn to nurse the sick. However, when a student is killed, Dalgliesh must hunt down a murderer who seems to believe that murder is a cure for all ills.

Cocolapew · 04/11/2022 17:29

Cocolapew · 04/11/2022 17:32

I recommend it if you missed it the first time, it reminded me of George Gently.
Its from P.D James' books.

These were very good. Looking forward to series 2 but but wonโ€™t be until 2023

notmyrealmoniker · 05/11/2022 11:19

It's a repeat. I saw a small clip yesterday and think it death of a nightingale or something similar.

PerkingFaintly · 05/11/2022 11:23

Oh both the Bertie Carvel adaptations and the Martin Shaw adaptations are marvellous.

Thanks for the heads up about the repeat and the new series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2022 12:58

Think I prefer dramas in 2020 then set in 1970
