Just seen an ad for series 6, sounds like it’ll be an interesting start from the spoiler I read!

They're great characters

love the boyfriend (Gordon?) and Christine is funny but believeable!

Ruizy · 16/11/2022 08:22

Yes Gordon and Christine are my favourites. Love Gordon’s facial expressions. Colin has some great lines too

hostawater · 16/11/2022 12:36

Two Doors Down is basically 50% reaction shots - Gordon's baffled discomfort is an unexpected rival to Beth's barely contained weary exasperation. The audition process is probably along the lines of 'OK, now how wide can you open your eyes? Great! Now, how close can you make your eyebrows go? Excellent!'

I like Anne-Marie but I was hoping for a few more episodes of Colin doggedly working his way through a series of Cathy clones/opposites before ending up with a regular partner.

charabang · 16/11/2022 18:32

I love Alun or Aln! Long suffering Michelle rolling her eyes at all his faux pas. 'Egg in a fish pie? Just give me the mash' Brilliant!

Umanresources · 16/11/2022 22:57

I’ve enjoyed this more, now that Cathy has gone. She got too embarrassing and I’m sure Beth would have spoken up sooner. Although I did enjoy the Christmas one which they spent in the time share.
I really enjoy Louise (Sophie Stone is very good in the Chelsea Detective), I love her relationship with Michelle. My favourite though is Gordon and I loved that he knew some sign language. Beth is really a saint for putting up with all of them though!

Now it's a fucking party had me howling

Me too! I love this show, nothing really happens but the one liners and facial expression about totally mundane things are brilliant.
Bring on series 7.

Just read that there’s going to be a new Christmas special, on the 23rd at 10pm on BBC1.

I love Alan and Michelle (did you know she's James McAvoy's sis?).

Imagine being married to a useless lump like Alan? He does make me laugh though. I liked when they showed another side to him in that episode with his brother.

Christine is still the best tho. And RIP to Pat Over the Back

Gordon irritates me a lot of the time although I did like him recounting the lines from the fight in the taxi queue ('show us yer tits' 'no wait, it was show us your big tits') in whatever series it was.

Glad Kathy has gone overall. Can't believe only one person ever slapped her. New girlfriend is a mix of dull and unnerving/creepy. I liked her more as the series went on. (would hate to be stuck in a lift with her though)

Christine is a brilliant character.

It still irks me though that Beth and Eric had another son in the pilot who hasn’t been mentioned since.

I was too, that wasn’t how I expected it to end.

I sobbed at the end too. Christine is a brilliant character. She makes me miss my mum and my granny.

RavenT · 24/12/2022 08:29

Loved it, brilliant.
'What have you got for a gay vegetarian?'.
😂

crossstitchingnana · 24/12/2022 08:39

Watched this last night, for the first time. Is it supposed to be funny? It was toe curling.

SavouryFlavour · 24/12/2022 09:24

I honestly expected the punchline to be that everyone left and Christine discovered there was a mistake with the loyalty card and she had £7 on it, not £70. please tell me this didn't happen I was doing the Tesco order at the same time

Very surreal to see everyone out of Beth's sitting room though!

Tumtr · 24/12/2022 09:31

Crossstichingnana maybe it only works if you know the characters from previous episodes. Or maybe it’s not your comedy. I thought it was amazing. I also kept expecting there to be some problem with Christine’s payment. And didn’t see the ending coming at all

SavouryFlavour · 24/12/2022 09:34

You have to have sat through all five series to appreciate the meta irony of someone other than Beth making a round of coffee, in a location other than Beth's sitting room. And also the inevitability that, with all Glasgow's many coffee shops to choose from, they would all somehow end up in the same one, at the same table.

That was the line of the episode.

I loved it.

We also were worried Christine's card would be declined or overspent or a mistake

treadcarefully · 24/12/2022 23:11

I much prefer it without Kathy.
Her character became so toxic by the end of the last series it was hard to watch.
Humour is slightly less abrasive now but the other characters stand out more.
Loved the Christmas special. Wish Sophie would come back. I liked her with Christine

And that after all her years of mooching off Beth, Christine finally treated the others

WandaWonder · 25/12/2022 09:02

I thought it was great, I want Christine to go back to normal though doesn't feel the same without her being her

But great episode

PrincePrecious · 25/12/2022 09:22

Am I a lone voice? I miss the character Cathy- where she recreates her own first wedding dance at Beth's anniversary party is my favourite scene of all episodes.
I guess with her character, they felt they were straying too far into laughing at a person with a drink problem???
