I really hope Ellie T isn't in the dance off. Or Ellie S.

ShakeYourFeathers · 23/10/2022 19:05

I really hope neither Ellies are in the DO. I voted for both this week

Lampzade · 23/10/2022 19:05

I feel like looking at the spoiler

Sunbird24 · 23/10/2022 19:06

Nah..go and make a cup of tea or something.

IReallyLikeCrows · 23/10/2022 19:06

I was going to look at the spoiler earlier but didn't get round to it.

GreenTeaPingPong · 23/10/2022 19:06

Molly was marked down due to the choreography, and the direction from Carlos, which is blatantly unfair. Yes it should have been sharper. I hope she isn't out.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 23/10/2022 19:06

Ooh, some proper cha cha!

Becky Hill.

Any the wiser? Me neither.

strictlypro · 23/10/2022 19:08

Gios face lights up when he's dancing with some one who can really dance 😍

ApolloandDaphne · 23/10/2022 19:08

I'm obviously an old gimmer.

Nah..go and make a cup of tea or something.

I think that I need something stronger than tea tbh

Wolfcub · 23/10/2022 19:08

God the sound on this is not good (being generous)

blusteryshowersaway · 23/10/2022 19:09

This is an appalling performance by Becky Hill. She was on the voice a few years ago.

keepcalm11 · 23/10/2022 19:09

Gio and Luba were great

ShakeYourFeathers · 23/10/2022 19:09

*Becky Hill.

Any the wiser? Me neither.*

She did the MacDonald Christmas ad a couple of years ago with a version of Forever Young. I don't really know what she looks like or much of her other stuff I loved that advert .

GrouchyKiwi · 23/10/2022 19:09

Shirley looks like she's still in her dressing gown.

Livpool · 23/10/2022 19:09

Face not Facebook- no more wine for me...

I think the time signature could have been 12/8.
Each ‘bong’ of the piano melody is a slow crotchet beat, with a triplet pulse underneath it when we first hear it, and that’s the speed the dancers’ feet are moving at. Each 4 note phrase of the melody (ie each bar) takes 12 steps to complete in the first half.
The triplet pulse remains the same throughout, but the melody gets played at twice the speed over the top, so each four note phrase of the melody now only takes 6 steps (half a bar) to complete. The drums stay with the pulse, it’s only the melody that is contracted. However long the phrase lasts, it goes into 12.
I’m not explaining it very well (clearly a diagram is needed!) but it’s a bit like ‘America’ from WSS where the melody has the emphasis ONE two three ONE two three ONE two ONE two ONE two but the six pulse keeps chugging along underneath, and both phrases add up to six no matter where you put the emphasis.
I’m surprised the judges didn’t mention it too, Will did well to still hear the three underneath.

Thanks for the explanation! It does make sense, sort of .... I could hear the three beats in each "bong" in the first part, but in the second part I could only hear the four "bongs" of the melody, and felt that if each of them was made up three notes then they would have to be very fast! If asked to name the time signature of the second part without listening to the first part, the natural instinct would be to call it 4/4. But it makes sense that the second part could simply be at twice the speed of the first part and still be 12/8. Quite complex music theory!

I will never not love him but has Gio had his teeth done (a bit too much...)
