Anyone else enjoying this series? I love to spot how many layers Kevin is wearing each week, and predicting which part of the build is going to go wrong; concrete cock-ups, windows don't fit, ripped off by Lithuanian builders...

I really enjoyed this weeks, the little wedge house built on the side of a 1960s terrace in a conservation area. I wasn't fussed so much about the interior of the build but about those huge windows and the gorgeous view of nature they afforded, and the Pulhamite grotto! I would give anything for an original Pulhamite anything after learning about it on No Such Thing As A Fish podcast.

I couldn't believe how much stress and work Corinne took on on top of her cancer treatment, but I never really understand why anyone chooses to self build. I prefer the easy life and would choose a smaller, already built home over a huge glass atrium flat roof construction with so much scope for things going wrong which takes over several years of your life and invariably goes over budget.

I was playing bingo. Almost got a full house! But no baby in this one. I think she was a bit crazy. Bet the neighbours weren't to happy about that one. I wouldn't be if I was in an end terrace. I could understand the issue with selling her original house. She isn't go to live in them both..

Thought the outside of the house was pretty hideous.

nokitchen · 14/10/2022 10:01

It was an interesting one. With the house orientated to looking at the trees I wondered whether the trees are part of a park or whether people walk in there in which case they will literally be looking in her big picture windows

Yeah I got the impression that it was part of a public park too. Personally I would not feel secure sleeping in her ground floor bedroom with huge windows, especially after the break in with the crowbar!

Weren't they after the builders equipment? But it would put me off.

CoolShoeshine · 15/10/2022 08:35

I wasn’t keen on the outside either, far too imposing.

Where do they find these incredible builders who build these wonderfully bespoke homes? When I had an extension it was constantly “we can’t do that” or “we can’t get those materials” and they pretty much wanted to build a basic box and finish as soon as they could!

I’m just watching the one with Davi & Matt 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Crazy

The Devon lighthouse was covered yesterday. Quite a sad story. It should go to some sort of hotel chain as it would be great fir stays.

Davi and Matt’s finish was great in the end. I have definitely seen worse. I am loving the series.

I've been a bit disappointed by the house featured this time round - though they can only film what they get offered. Too many of them have been grandiose expensive wannabe Bond villain lairs with a airport lounge style err lounge and kitchens so big you need a loudhailer to announce lunch is ready.

Though I did like the house built on the former hop farm - an interesting concept and altogether more homely - and the new twist on build jeopardy with the yes you can, no you can't, okay yes for money you can from the neighbour whose patch of grass they needed to use for access.

And I liked the Dulwich wedge house, though for the life of me can't see why 'the powers that be' there insisted the place looked like an electricity substation from the street.

I really liked the hop farm one and thought they were a lovely down to earth couple
