Has anyone been watching ? I watched when it came out in the 90's I enjoyed it then, but love it even more now, stellar cast (Christopher Eccleston, Daniel Craig , Gina McKee,) love how it captures the changing time periods, and the characters draw you in so much , so well written, the last epps are on next week, but it is all on catch up.

Superfi I'm now watching the utterly brilliant Edge of Darkness from 1985. So good it was given an instant repeat and another one a few months later. I would highly recommend it. (Available on Prime but hopefully it's on the list for reshowing on BBC 4.)

Loved the first episode

They now look so young but at the time I thought they looked too old for the parts itms as I was much younger myself

Recently loved State of Play ..on Prime

I remember it as a must see, but feeling that time was overspent on the corrupt vice police in London segment. I know it will still be quality viewing, but wonder if anyone other than older people who remember it first time around will watch it? Growing up I was exposed to tons of old films, dramas and comedies and also their modern versions. Basically, because programmes weren't marketed directly to me as a young person like they are now. I'm glad, as I think it helped me have a more open mind and not develop tunnel vision.

Just finished watching this on iplayer, loved it when it was first shown and loved it again. I did think most of the male characters were arseholes though apart from Eddie, Mary is great. Was struck by history repeating itself, divisions in the Labour Party, corrupt, sexist Met officers etc. Also enjoyed rewatching Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit.

@WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps Quality indeed, there is so much to get your teeth into, everyone is good in it, even the minor supporting characters are memorable. Also, I can really relate to Mary in a way I couldn't when I watched in the 90's!

Yeah there IS so much to get your teeth into! Grin I am on episode 6 now - 1979. It's so good! I have so many memories of the late 1970s, even though I was a child. And it's soooo well done and authentic. SUCH good acting too. I proper fancy Tosker! (Mark Strong.) And Daniel Craig's acting in it is superb. Well they're all good actually Also understand Mary better now. I was only in my mid 20s when it was out, and had only been married several years (with no children at the time.)

if you liked this you may like 'Looking after JoJo' with Robert Carlyle in a very early role, in the same vein as OFITN but without the politics, very 'gritty' and 80's
I think it is on youtube (not great quality though has that 'vaseline on the lens' look to it)

I saw it first time round and thought Mary was underwritten and that generally there was a real dearth of three-dimensional female characters compared to the men. It was brilliant though - so many moments have stayed with me.
Fancying Tosker though?
