I imagine not giving a lot of screen time to Luca and Dami last night is more to do with saving the actual show than who wins this series due to the large volume of complaints and a call from Women’s Aid. Thus there is an impetus for the males to distance themselves from the toxic masculinity they portrayed for the entire series because this thing is at risk of going the way of Jeremy Kyle and big brother.
With a new villa this year, the stakes are high. It has been presumed the show is peaking right now and the new villa would be a great cash cow. But I’m not sure that’s the feeling out here.
After everything that has gone before with not just this show but past ITV shows, I am astounded the production team has not received intensive training on toxic masculinity, bullying and misogyny. It sounds to me as if it would be a good idea to get not just psychologists but also anthropologists on board to analyse group behaviour and select future candidates more wisely.
