The Our Girl Addicts Thread 65 Stay focused, Stay alert, Stay alive and carry on....spying

We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through all three series of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We have now agreed to watch the old BBC series of Spooks and are currently in the middle of series 2. Please join in if this grabs your attention.

Yes, there is an old nuclear bunker between Bath and Corsham, that is true.

I've been to the MoD near Corsham once. Will it be that place?

Not sure exactly where it is, but that would seem likely. I'd like to see them get there in 50 minutes from central London by anything other than a helicopter though.

Love Danny’s comment about the politicians dream.
And Zoe’s in a right mood.

I stayed at the Rudloe Arms hotel. I remember it well as I was full of a cold and the manager brought me my meal in the room. I felt rotten and had a 200 mile drive home the following day.

This is definitely a drill isn't it? It all seems a bit too real.

This is like a really extreme escape room isn't it. I've done a couple and I was totally bamboozled, so I'd be hopeless.

This is very confusing, isn’t it.

I suppose they're going to make them doubt themselves and suspect it might be true or they just wouldn't be able to take it seriously. It's like those first aid courses with dummy casualties, you just can't take it totally seriously, not matter how much they've been made up to look bad.

Harry is catching up on paperwork it seems. Wouldn't do to leave your inbox untidy.

We did a disaster recovery type exercise years ago which not only affected the IT infrastructure but local roads and transport. I'd forgotten about it until watching this. It was quite fun but then we obviously knew it was all a huge role play.

Is it wrong of me to laugh when Tom asks "So, who at present is running the country??"

I reckon that bloke with Joy was in Soldier, Soldier at some point. Mind you, who wasn't?

Easy seeing this isn’t the present. The current Scottish administration wouldn’t argue and would leap at the chance.

I don't think this is one of the better episodes we've watched, do you?

"London outranks Scotland" - I'd love to see Nicola Sturgeon hearing that at the end of the line, bet she'd have a few choice words to put Tom in his place Grin

This is a difficult episode to comment on, but it's very tense. It's obvious to us that it has to be a drill, but as it goes on, they've moved from being dismissive to taking it seriously.

Of course, if it's a drill, Tom's bunny boiler girlfriend is going to go bananas when he doesn't turn up for lunch.

The robot reminds me of that moment in Apollo 13 when they have to build a CO2 filter from whatever they have lying around.

Looks like Joy is heading for the hills...
