The Our Girl Addicts Thread 65 Stay focused, Stay alert, Stay alive and carry on....spying

We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through all three series of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We have now agreed to watch the old BBC series of Spooks and are currently in the middle of series 2. Please join in if this grabs your attention.

She is - clearly doesn’t believe in the sisterhood.

Rhubarb01 · 31/08/2022 21:55

I think this may have flipped Tom over the edge. He looks like he's truly had enough.

Magi84 · 31/08/2022 21:57

Tom may have reached his limit I think. Can't stomach much more

Ilovelblue · 31/08/2022 21:57

Tom is about to flip methinks ...... and one more episode in this series to go.

I think it has happened Harry not happening

eejittwo · 31/08/2022 21:59

Oops - Tom and Harry fall out.

Ilovelblue · 31/08/2022 21:59

I suppose in a job with MI5, there comes a point when you just burn out.

Harry's not displaying much sympathy.

At least Tom has ignored him and is talking to Christine.

Magi84 · 31/08/2022 22:00

That was quite powerful really. A man at the end of his tether in a job he presumably went into with high hopes

eejittwo · 31/08/2022 22:01

I won’t be around next week.
That was a good episode, I thought.

Rhubarb01 · 31/08/2022 22:06

I know it's greatly exaggerated for drama purposes, but there must be so much stress in those jobs. It seems inevitable that burn out happens. I do think in real life (I hope) that here is more emotional support.

Ilovelblue · 31/08/2022 22:06

Oh eejit, would you rather we delayed for a week? It's the final episode too.

eejittwo · 31/08/2022 22:46

If it’s ok with the rest of you - you know, lockdown had its benefits 🤣

Ilovelblue · 31/08/2022 23:25

I'm fine to hold on for the final episode - so long as Rhu and Magi are in agreement.

I suppose in a job with MI5, there comes a point when you just burn out.

For a while the stresses and emotions are there, but after a while you become numb to the psychology stresses and your training becomes sharper and more focused that you end up basically being part robotic in a sense of your emotions and skills in doing your duties.

Magi84 · 01/09/2022 06:36

I am quite happy to skip next week and do last episode in this series the following week

Rhubarb01 · 07/09/2022 19:04

Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm fine to wait until next week, so see you all here on the 14th.

Rhubarb01 · 14/09/2022 19:08

Well, it's been a momentous week! Are we ready for tonight?

eejittwo · 14/09/2022 20:46

As one, Rhu, I was about to type the same thing!

eejittwo · 14/09/2022 20:47

I’m quite looking forward to some light relief.

Ilovelblue · 14/09/2022 20:49

It's certainly been a week like no other Rhu. I guess we had some sort of indication how things would be after Prince Philip's funeral last year but this is on a whole different scale. I have watched far too much television coverage this week, that's for sure.

Just a quick point: I'm on holiday next week so would it be ok to delay the start of series 3 until I'm back (Wed 28/9)?

I am here. What a week though. Probably watched too much tv but no regrets.

Magi84 · 14/09/2022 21:00

Pressing play

eejittwo · 14/09/2022 21:00

It’s been fun listening to the inane wittering of some of the presenters, when they have been wittering rubbish about some thing or somewhere I actually know about.

Magi84 · 14/09/2022 21:03

I take it you mean the Edinburgh section eejit I felt the same but was very nostalgic about my ho e town
