The Our Girl Addicts Thread 65 Stay focused, Stay alert, Stay alive and carry on....spying

We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through all three series of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We have now agreed to watch the old BBC series of Spooks and are currently in the middle of series 2. Please join in if this grabs your attention.

Who are all the vol au vents?

Rhubarb01 · 18/08/2022 21:34

eejit surely you remember Judy's infamous offer of a finger buffet and all that might entail?

eejittwo · 18/08/2022 21:35

He can’t be French if he thinks nicotine and caffeine are the two major food groups. What about wine?

eejittwo · 18/08/2022 21:35

Who could forget the finger buffet and it’s no doubt illicit delights!

And cheese? ooh du pain, du vin, du boursin!!

Rhubarb01 · 18/08/2022 21:37

Might gonna confess here that I'm not exactly following this very closely.

Magi84 · 18/08/2022 21:38

Moi, non plus Rhu

Tom isn't dressed for the opera. If they don't like it, why did she book it?

Do you think she did it because she thought it would impress Tom? Or are they beyond trying to impress each other?

At least the CIA understands the demands of the job, even if she is disappointed.

Ilovelblue · 18/08/2022 21:42

Agee it's a bit confusing is this episode. Too many different bits to try and tie together.

Well it's very unethical to use a minor like this...kind of cyber kamikaze mission.

Ilovelblue · 18/08/2022 21:48

Surely it wouldn't happen in the real MI5 where they used such a young child. By the way, I hated the term "clean skin".

I sincerely hope it would never happen.

Love this Brits v Frogs vibe. Bit like the Brits v Yanks. Frenemies.

Rhubarb01 · 18/08/2022 22:00

Sorry, nodded off for a few minutes and it ended!

Ilovelblue · 18/08/2022 22:01

Well that's an hour out of our lives which we'll never get back. Not a great episode.

shocking to use a kid like that, but it was a good offer.

Ilovelblue · 18/08/2022 22:01

Oh Rhu, that's my trick!

Very true Ilove but in some strange way I quite liked it. Won't go as far as to say enjoyed but stayed with it.

Rhubarb01 · 18/08/2022 22:16

Ilovelblue · 18/08/2022 22:01

Oh Rhu, that's my trick!

Yep, it's been a long and stressy kind of day. I actually had a weird, increasingly unpleasant stress dream last night (the type where you can never reach the place you are going or achieve what you need, or are constantly lost) in which I actually knew/realised after a while that I was in a dream and kept telling myself to wake up, it was bizarre especially when I couldn't wake up. When I finally did, it was with a real shock and so sudden that I was gasping as if I had been running. Very, very strange and a bit disturbing. I think that's why I actually nodded off just now - didn't sleep well at all Smile

eejittwo · 18/08/2022 22:42

Oh, nasty. Hope you sleep okay tonight.

Rhubarb01 · 18/08/2022 22:45

Well, if I'm struggling tonight eejit I will just think of Judy's vol-au-vents and the tedium of that ought to give me a quiet night Grin

Ilovelblue · 18/08/2022 23:07

Oh Rhu, I hate dreams like that where you have to really shake yourself awake otherwise the dream starts up again. I wouldn't entertain Judy and her finger buffet when you go to bed tonight - think of Elvis or CJ instead!

There's a book series called cherub, which is basically a mi5 style agency version but with kids, up until they are late teens.
