A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, language, film and music when the mood takes us. A few of us are learning Korean, Japanese and/or Mandarin (some more diligently than others admittedly), so we swap tips and links to language resources. Basically, anything topical goes.

I am on episode 4 of YL&G … I couldn’t stop and @Bea is so right about being so bad that it’s good. I think my first Ksoap or for that matter first soap in any language.
I can’t stand FL’s mum, constant crying/wailing really annoys me.

Have caught up with Today's Webtoon and agree with previous comments that it is dragging a bit although do like the insight into the world of webtoons. Am getting annoyed with lack of development ré silent female. Dead gf/sister? Party scene etc memories/flashbacks? Think both MLs like FL but not convinced anything will happen with either.

Finished Cute Programmer and rather miss it but am sure I will forget all about it soon. Wanted to see cute babies at the end but at least there were kittens. Waiting for S3 of The Eternal Love to be subbed on Viki as it is ludicrous but somehow endearing.

Have also started Alice the Final Weapon - very dark, haven't decided on it yet.

Tempted by YL&G as remember Bea commenting on it. Could be just the job to counteract upcoming weekend of decorating.

I've gone for BL short on Viki, called My Sweet Dear about a couple of Chefs, enemies to lovers plot line. In the first 2 episodes we've had abs and competitive chopping 🔪 it's easy enough to watch, it's a no thinking evening for me🍷

I just stumbled on a catchy as hell Korean hip hop track: Spaceboy by FNR (feat Tablo & Kim Jong Wan). My playlist is rather esoteric at the mo.

Oooh, listening to Tablo’s Fever’s End Pt 1 ep and Home (feat 이소라) is unexpectedly beautiful. Is 이소라 Lee SoRa in English? She has a wonderful voice. Such an interesting juxtaposition of styles.
