What to watch with 10 year old boy that won't drive me bananas?

He would watch Lego Ninjago, Captain Underpants or Where's Wally ad nauseam. Also some quite young series with DD (e.g. Octonauts). He does have SEN and is quite socially immature.
So far I've got him to like The Inbestigators and Merlin, we like various films but really looking for a series.
He didn't like Dengineers, he'll watch the odd bit of Blue Peter and we have a regular Newsround slot but a lot of other things have not been popular (with one or other of us).

Star Wars
The Mandalorian
Young Sheldon
Mr Bean
Evan Almighty went down well today

Topbird29 · 01/05/2022 20:39

And deadly dinosaurs. And sometimes horrid histories.

JurasicPerks · 01/05/2022 20:49

Deadly 60
Police interceptors and various similar things
David Attenborough and other nature style programs.

Opihr · 01/05/2022 22:42

Operation Ouch is fab.

Awrite · 01/05/2022 22:49

Well, I saw your thread title and came on to say Merlin but I see you've already watched it.

My ds and I have watched Full House twice through and then Fuller House.

We watched the film The Adam Project earlier. The kids and I loved it but dh thought it was mince.

Awrite · 01/05/2022 22:51

Oh, and last summer we all loved Clarkson's Farm.

drspouse · 01/05/2022 22:54

I think school have over done Horrible Histories and Operation Ouch for him.
He does really like You Vs Wild and Spy in the Wild but we've had limited success with nature type things.
I'd love to get him watching Monty Python. Is it on Britbox?

Top gear
Lego masters
Summer camp island
Goes wrong show
Just add magic (on prime)
Taskmaster PG version
Little lunch

DS1 is 10 and loves teen titans and the Simpsons. we have been watching Star Trek next generation together as well which we are both enjoying as a kind of family friendly Black Mirror.

Xiaoxiong · 01/05/2022 23:04

He also enjoyed some monty python (silly walks, dead parrot) and some of the fast show (Swiss Toni went right over his head but he loved the rambler and channel 9 news "bono estente" and "scorchio")

spongedog · 01/05/2022 23:18

Mine liked Outnumbered but perhaps was slightly older. He loved all the kids and their individual quirks.

notafraidofthebigbadwolf · 01/05/2022 23:21

Another vote for Jamie Johnson.
Mine also love Total Wipeout and World’s Strongest Man.

Avatar is great if that is still on (I think its Amazon prime). The series, not the movies.

Spirited Away and any of the others from that set of movies on Netflix

Dengineers is fun & harmless - kids building dens

Bimblybomeyelash · 01/05/2022 23:28

There’s a sorta interactive bear Grylls one on Netflix where you choose what he does next. ” You v the wild”

WhatICallMyUsername · 01/05/2022 23:55

Would he watch Around the world in 80 Days? It's the David Tennant version on over Christmas but still on iPlayer.

We are currently watching it with DS10 who isn't currently diagnosed with anything but I am sure something will be soon Sad

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 02/05/2022 20:15

Yonderland (Sky / Now TV) and Ghosts (iPlayer). Both made by the same team as the original Horrible Histories cast. Yonderland is the slightly younger and sillier of the two, with puppets.

TeeNoG · 02/05/2022 20:25

Hilda is great, and my boy loves all the Stufio Ghibli films on Netflix, particularly Spirited Away.

I also quite like Nate is Late, Space Jungle and Jurassic World.

2bazookas · 02/05/2022 20:27

I just watched "Marmaduke" with a 10 yr old and a 74 yr old. We all enjoyed it.

drspouse · 11/06/2022 22:03

Reporting back: Around the World in 80 Days is a hit. Still watching it.
I'm keen to try Dodger but he didn't like the look of it.
We still haven't finished Merlin but there is so much we've given it a break.

Thanks for the update @drspouse .

This thread inspired me to rewatch Merlin with my almost 12 year old. Lovely that we have this shared memory to be nostalgic about.

lapasion · 12/06/2022 13:39

Adventure Time is quite a fun watch. My 10 year old loves it and the humour is quite surreal, so I don’t find it completely annoying. The Simpsons and Futurama are also really popular in our house for family viewing.

drspouse · 12/06/2022 18:53

Oh I think we had some Adventure Time pants when he was younger!

Thank you for this thread-I have a ten year old DS so reading with interest (he's watching the Star Wars films with my husband - I'm not a fan!)

CatNamedEaster · 13/06/2022 21:50

Series that I've been able to tolerate with 9yo DS, especially if they have a good theme tune for me to belt out and embarrass him 😉:

She ra
The Thundermans
Ninja Warrior
Tenable (daytime quiz)
The Worst Witch
Theodosia
Next Step (quite a lot of teen love-angst though 😂)
Betty Feather
Ghosts
The Zoo (very funny)
