We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further sries, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through all three series of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We are revisiting series 2 of Our Girl currently but when this has come to an end, we have agreed to start watching the old BBC series of Spooks. Please join in if this grabs your attention.

It's been quite a decent ending to this series. Much better than the Bangladesh tour.

So, next week, Spooks, though I’m sure we’ll come back to Our Girl one day.

Georgie shows that she is going to finally let the past and Elvis go and move on.

I think I am already too invested in Spooks everyone! I do rather fancy Tom Quinn/Matthew Macfayden I've decided.

Well, there will be plenty of that kind of hero to admire over 9 series of Spooks ilove, so strap yourself in and we will be off on the twisting rollercoaster this time next week!

Yes Spooks does provide lots of heroes to drool over really looking forward to starting with it again. I always liked Matthew McFadyen
ilove but have struggled with some of his portrayals in more recent times. Perhaps he hasn't aged as well as one hoped.

Agree eejit I am sure we will return to Our Girl again in the future. Series one will always be my favourite but having seen this last one again I fear series one could even look a bit amateurish in hindsight.

OG 1 was a classic ‘growing up ‘ story, OG2 was a classic medieval romance, with Elvis as the knight in shining armour rescuing the damsel in distress, again and again. OG3:1 was Pride and Prejudice, only Darcy doesn’t get killed at the end of P&P. The rest of OG3 was mediocre soap opera. Haven’t quite decided about OG4. Any ideas, ladies?

OG4 is a partial re-run of series 1 really, with the new and untested members of Two Section like Throbber, Mimi and Lt Hurst trying to find their feet and getting their heads around the situation in Afghanistan and Mimi getting overly invested in helping that young girl etc.

I feel OG1 did cover young girl "growing up" but then went on to become more P & P with slightly superior guy succumbing to the charms of a girl from a completely different walk of life and finally deciding she was brilliant. The only reason I now mention it might seem a bit amateurish is only on the production side of things because OG4 looking at it now certainly shows that they upped things by using more personnel, military equipment and indeed locations.

OG2 started off with The Milk Tray man climbing the drain pipe to seek his lady love then went on further than the ad of course by messing that scenario up. Became knight in shining armour to save her from many perils (including a boringly dull suitor) and ended making sure there was the possibility of another series.

As for OG3 well fir me that was a "disaster darling" (Revel Horwood) when you say that. Definitely no need to kill off the knight and certainly no need to completely change the character of our other hero as they could have done a diagnosis of PTSD properly.

OG4 did try to use ideas from OG1 and new section members etc to make us feel we were bonding again and of course had to settle Georgie's grief over Elvis and put her on the road to new feelings. All very tidy. For devotees of series one though we didn't get any real tidying up of what was happening to CJ and Molly.

Are we ready for the new watchalong tonight?

Yes, it will be good to start on something new. I did watch the first episode again the other week to remind myself, and I can remember some individual episodes which stick out, but it will be another journey of discovery as we plough through the episodes for the next year or so. Lots of 'eyeball' and surveillance, gadgets and no doubt some more big watches. Happy spying folks!!

It has been the same for me eejit. I was addicted part way into the first episode. Am now at the end of series 3. As Magi said, it was so easy to flip from episode to episode!
