The Our Girl Addicts Thread 64 Stay focused, Stay alert, Stay alive and carry on....spying

We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further sries, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through all three series of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We are revisiting series 2 of Our Girl currently but when this has come to an end, we have agreed to start watching the old BBC series of Spooks. Please join in if this grabs your attention.

Here's Ruth from GCHQ!

Ilovelblue · 06/07/2022 21:07

Enter Nicola Walker, she actually looks less miserable than she does in some parts she plays.

The way Danny says ‘Yeah….’

If this series is around 20 years old, some of the stories are incredibly current.

Sadly, I suppose, not much has changed in the last 20 years.

Rhubarb01 · 06/07/2022 21:09

Oh, Ruth needs to get her head round the diplomacy of MI5. Like her eager enthusiasm though.

eejittwo · 06/07/2022 21:09

Depressing, isn’t it!

Ilovelblue · 06/07/2022 21:09

Here we have a stowaway (if you have those on trains) but still wearing a linen suit.

Is the spy who came in from the cold...or from the hot?

eejittwo · 06/07/2022 21:10

This music is very reminiscent of some in Our Girl

Rhubarb01 · 06/07/2022 21:10

Oh, I thought they'd actually sent him to Truro...wondered what was so special about Cornwall.

eejittwo · 06/07/2022 21:13

Tom’s pep talk isn’t great.

I'm beginning to wonder how much is original music. A lot of it seems generic. I also keep hearing some of the music from OG 1 being used in other things or as background music.

Mind you, this story about using kids as bombers was probably newer back in 2003 or so.

Rhubarb01 · 06/07/2022 21:14

Poor old Ruth...bit of a yokel from out in the sticks. It's practically rural in Cheltenham 😁

Ilovelblue · 06/07/2022 21:14

Ruth comes across in this as rather dizzy and over enthusiastic - a bit like a puppy let off the lead.

Are you awake ilove?

Rhubarb01 · 06/07/2022 21:15

Ah, yes...I see that you are!

eejittwo · 06/07/2022 21:15

If it’s not the same composer, then it may be directors or producers wanting a particular ‘sound’.

Ilovelblue · 06/07/2022 21:17

I'm still awake, yes!

The evil mullah’s quite scornful about human rights.

Ilovelblue · 06/07/2022 21:18

Goodness me, this young chap has certainly been brainwashed.

Looks like they need to find out if Tessa had any genuine agents they could use.

Rhubarb01 · 06/07/2022 21:20

I see that Jenny Agutter is in a new film which is a sequel to The Railway Children and is playing Bobbie as a grandmother in 1944. Tempted to go and see it even if it is a kid's film.

Ilovelblue · 06/07/2022 21:20

Tessa has set herself up as a one woman security firm by the looks of it. She is gloating that Tom needs her help.

So Tessa is now running a seedy security firm.

Miaow!
