The Thai island of Koh Tao is beautiful but the documentary looks at deaths of British backpackers.

Does anyone think, like i do, that most of the deaths are explained quite simply. One had a motorcycle accident, the girl died of an overdose of respiratory depressant medication she bought in a chemist, and the murderers of the 2 were correctly imprisoned and found guilty based on DNA and other evidence. Not sure about the other deaths, but the conspiracy theories are the internet at its worse.

Yes there is a Mafia style family controlling all the clubs and the police are corrupt in many areas, like many other countries, but the complete denial of facts and evidence is strange.

I feel these poor families are concentrating on finding a conspiracy as a way of denying and feeling their grief?

The couple who were hacked to death on the beach?

I think the poor girl who took the over dose was the only death I thought that was a genuine accident.

I said the couple were murdered, but it wasn't some Mafia conspiracy it was two Burmese workers who raped and murdered the pair. The conspiracy was they were just scapegoats and innocent, but DNA and other evidence was quite clear.

I also wonder about the deaths on similar party islands and societies and if the numbers are comparible?

That poor dad determined to prove his daughter was murdered is just delaying the grief process I think.

The lad on a motorcycle had a ruptured aorta which is enitrely consistent with the handlebars of the bike hitting his chest at speed.

I've been there - amazing diving destination
It's a wild dangerous place. I saw people blatantly unloading drugs on the beach, armed to the teeth, in the middle of the day. I think British is so safe people forget the risks when abroad, especially when they're drunk

Was there ever a reason given that the Burmese boys killed the couple?

This isn't the first doc about the place ,there was a similar one about a murder a few years ago. Plus the female journalist mentioned friends of her killed too.

The place is minute, that's an awful lot of dead people

I agree with you OP.
While it is a lot of deaths for a small place you have to consider the excessive alcohol and drug consumption, not to mention access to medication you would need a prescription for in this country. Sadly people under the influence of alcohol/drugs often make reckless decisions.
I felt desperately sorry for the parents but thought the conspiracy theorists were causing additional distress to people who needed to grieve without being tortured by thoughts of what could have happened to their loved ones.
