Has anybody else watched this tonight? I thought it was compelling.

Thread title edited by MNHQ to add spoiler warning
@diddl - I'd persevere beyond 20 mins as there's a twist. Well I thought it was twist.

If you binge watched, please no spoilers or discussion not at tv pace.
Ooh you're tempting me now!

lazymum99 · 14/02/2022 08:43

I loved Spiral. Watched the whole lot in the last lockdown. I was bereft when I finished it.
I will try this.
So much to watch these days

diddl · 14/02/2022 08:56

I also loved Spiral but am currently half way through series 7 as I got fed up with it!

Halsall · 14/02/2022 09:10

Dh and I are always in if there’s a new French crime drama on BBC4 but this definitely isn’t in the same league as Spiral, is it? We'll happily watch but I must say my patience ebbed a little at the 'oh no, my battery’s flat' moment. Female detective with an unreliable (though perfectly new-looking) car....just sort it out ! You're a shit-hot flic, don’t keep gormlessly driving round in a car that’s liable to let you down at a critical point!

diddl · 14/02/2022 21:29

Got sucked back in.

Why????

Ending of 2nd episodeHmm

Yes, Engrenages is fantastic. This is OK, but doesn't compare. Then again, very few series do. Crime dramas have been done so often, you need something special to make them stand out.

Speaking of special, I was traumatised when the gorgeous Pierre left Engrenages!

RosieBrock · 17/02/2022 01:47

Yes. Watched all of it with my husband. First two episodes good. Then rapidly descends into a hugely frustrating and implausible farce. Very poorly conceived plot. Very disappointing. I watch so much and this was the worst I have seen for some time. I liked Spiral and I also liked The Bureau (a lot).

Djangor3725 · 17/02/2022 09:09

I have watched the first episode & quite enjoyed it plus it is useful for trying to improve my french language lack of skills. Will try 2nd episode but disappointing that it sounds as though the rest is pointless. Seems to be a common theme for so many recent crime drama series - they start off with a good idea, then try & spread it over far too many episodes & it all becomes unbelievable.

lazymum99 · 17/02/2022 14:15

I was recommended Le Bureau but I cant find it anywhere for free. Does anyone know where I can watch without paying? I have netflix, prime and sky so don't want to sign up to anything else

I don't think the Bureau is available for free. You can buy it or rent it on Prime. It is worth it.

This is supposed to be a spoiler free thread AnnieP. MNHQ have added a spoiler warning, but it's not what was intended Sad

We've removed spoiler posts as it's a fairly new thread and edited the title. Please don't post spoilers in this thread, thanks!

mycatisannoying · 17/02/2022 19:46

I loved it!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/02/2022 21:21

Good grief,that wasn't a spoiler at ALLHmm

IcedPurple · 19/02/2022 21:07

Start of the 3rd episode and we've already had the inevitable 'I'm taking you off the case!" plot line!

@IcedPurple

I’m truly sorry, I (obviously) mistakenly assumed that everyone would have seen it by now.

I’ve asked for it to be removed.

WeAreTheHeroes · 23/02/2022 10:38

Well not sure what was posted and then deleted, but the plot thickens. Sarah should have just gone to the pub for a drink with the team, god knows what she's playing at!

It's on BBC iplayer too. Just binged watched it. Was good I thought, a few twists

diddl · 25/03/2022 19:17

Well I carried on with it & have just finished it.

How sad it all was!

MiniatureHotdog · 25/03/2022 19:22

I'm getting really tired of dramas that involve a child being abducted/murdered/add your own depressing variation here.
I didn't realise how strongly I felt about it until I got partway through the first episode and thought, "Nah".

Yes we were the same. I love detective series, scani noir, etc, but we switched off after 10 minutes for the same reason.

DejaVoodoo · 26/03/2022 08:56

DH and I are watching this at the moment. It's a bit annoying and clichéd, but I guess we'll have to finish it to find out what happened. Sarah and Tony made me throw a cushion!
And I realise now how much my French has deteriorated!
